Problems with Special Delivery

Post by PMK »

Over the past two months I have had roughly the same issue with three parcels sent via Special Delivery. I live in Derbyshire; the first was posted to a London address and early next morning it arrived at a London Mail Centre before being sent to Wales (Cardiff if I recall correctly) before finally arriving at the correct London Mail Centre four days later when thankfully it was delivered.
Two weeks ago I sent another SD package to an address in London. Again it went via the Nottingham MC, and the next morning there was a message on the T&T website stating that it had arrived at the wrong London MC and would immediately be forwrded to the correct one. It arrived at the correct London MC not the next day but the following day.
I know that the problem has nothing to do with addressing the parcels as the labels are always printed out (using very friendly large font size) and double checked, still I never bothered complaining as the parcels did finally arrive at their correct destinations, albeit very late, and I appreciate that the RM is probably still under strain.
However, I posted another SD parcel yesterday morning, this one going to an address in Brough (East Riding of Yorks), it went to Nottingham as usual and then to Sheffield MC, and since this morning it has shown that it is 'Due to be delivered today by Sheffield MC'. Even with my lomited knowledge of the postal system even I know that Sheffield MC could not deliver to Brough which is HU15 and probably 60 miles away. So it's unlikely that this one will be delivered on time, but hopefully it will be delivered correctly.
Three parcels probably equate to 1/4 of the ones that I've sent via SD over the past six weeks or so.
Most of my other parcels are sent via 1st Class Signed For, but here there are other issues; probably 50% don't arrive the next day (not a problem really and I can understand), but a fair few still show up on the RM T&T website as being still in the system even though they've been delivered OK sometimes weeks earlier.
What is happening?

Sorry for your past frustrations…

I can help with your most recent issue. Items labelled hu postcodes go to Sheffield mail centre and from there to the delivery office.
