ID8000 Label

I've been advised that a package I'd like to send within the UK requires an ID8000 label, do I just print this off and affix myself or is it a PO task? Thanks for any advice.

If it needs one of those labels then you are required by law to take it to the Post Office counter and discuss the contents of the parcel with the clerk before sending (there might be some exceptions to this if you have a contract with Royal Mail). The PO will fix the ID8000 label to the package. The official labels have an RFID chip in them: printing your own is just inviting the Civil Aviation Authority to destroy the parcel.

To avoid having a wasted trip to the PO, could you tell us what you are sending?

Thanks, I knew a label was required but after looking online I couldn't find a definitive answer as to whether the PO or customer should put it on. It's a bottle of perfume which meets the restrictions set by RM.

So, to be clear, you are sending a maximum of four bottles of perfume in the package, with no bottle being more than 150ml, and all of the bottles are enclosed in rigid packaging (I.e. a cardboard box)? You will need to have your name and address on the parcel (it should be on their anyway, but it changes from something you should do to something you commit a crime if you omit it when sending perfume). If all if this is done, make sure that the PO clerk applies the label and you are sorted.

Why does the id8000 label have class 9 on it, if you sending perfume / aftershave, that's class 3?

Class 3 is flammable.
