Scotland to Southen in 6 hours??

Post by jw1969 »

Hi all, i have a parcel sent from west midlands to Dumfries (scotland) on 27th track and trace is showing a very strange movement, i.e from north western to carlise, i expect then for it to show a Dumfries Do (where i live) but it bizzarely then shows it is ready for delivery at Southend on Sea DO. - 350 miles away? is it possible for the track point to be wrong? seems odd to suddenly pop up that far south in that time scale?? cheers

That timescale is pretty normal, royal mail use airplanes during the night to transport mail across the country so going from one end to the other in a few hours is normal. it is possible that it's an errornous scan, though unlikely. It has either been misread and sent there in error or you have been given the wrong tracking number or the wrong address or postcode has been printed on your parcel.

I would contact the sender to get them to chase up what has happened to the item

It's more likely that the sender has given you the wrong tracking number and you're tracking the wrong parcel but yes things can travel that fast.

We use these a lot...

thanks both - it was delivered today, so it must have been an erroneous scan, quite funny when it says 'Ready for delivery in Southend DO, delivered in Dumfries Scotland) 4 hours later. Now thats what i call an impressive delivery :) heres the proof
