plus people don't always vote the way they claim they will.
There are a lot of people in our office, who in my opinion will vote yes, they are not lying about it they are just not shouting it from the rooftops.

Our Branch has recommended yes too, but every one that I've talked too, except one driver says they will be voting NO.mucker wrote:our branch is recomending yes, however i speak to loads of members and 99% are voting NO............ A recomendation isnt worth the paper it's written on............The only barometer so far is the branch recommendations which are by far in favour of a 'YES'
They also complain that their reps voted without consulting them. So some branch recommendations are just the view of a few reps and not the Branch at all.

I go along with that.fishtank wrote: I would suggest this accusation could also be levelled at branch and HQ.![]()
Secondly Branches are reluctant to tell the truth. For them to report that people are voting no to this agreement would lead to HQ questioning their commitment so its easier to paint a rosy picture.
btw Lovejoy i don't doubt the sucsess of the meetings for reps...but even if they change their minds it's a much tougher pitch for them to give in the units.

That's not an unreasonable assertion depending on how the question was phrased.I am number six wrote:I think you may find the majority of people will see job security as a number one factor after all the CWU and RMG have seen this as a primary concernStormproof wrote:Perhaps the 'majority' might change their minds when they get their hands on the complete agreement.a request was made buy our Regional Director to assess the general feeling people had of the agreement
Such a pity that this majority will suffer bitter disappointment if this 'smoke and mirrors' deal goes through because job security is one thing they will not get; a pay cut and increased workload with what looks like a national no strike agreement on the other hand is a dead cert.

indeed which is the case for my branch who had a reps meeting, hence the reason i recommendations arent worth the paper they are written on......So some branch recommendations are just the view of a few reps and not the Branch at all.

Could you answer the question please.I am number six wrote:Time will tell Belle, but don't forget the views on this forum are a very small percentage in comparison of the whole of RMG and a national votebelle smith wrote: Is that right number six, did you predict a no vote for the ballot for the IA???
And given, after reading through many many posts on this site seem to be a very minor militant few basically the same old few who oppose the agreement
Time will indeed tell, will it be similar to the outcome of the 2007 agreement??
btw The whole of RMG are not voteing Your polling may have gone wrong.

Some branch recommendations are the view of the branch committee and even fewer repswelshy808 wrote:Our Branch has recommended yes too, but every one that I've talked too, except one driver says they will be voting NO.mucker wrote:our branch is recomending yes, however i speak to loads of members and 99% are voting NO............ lovejoy wrote:I think your point that the branches are painting a rosy picture is completely false. I've yet to meet one cwu official who has painted a rosy picture. Well barometers can be wrong mucker.
Especially when they are being continually tampered with by HQ.
I would suggest this accusation could also be levelled at branch and HQ.Lovejoy wrote

Nobody is painting a rosy picture - far from it
I have to agree it is no means the ideal, but for the survival of the business and security of employment
The agreement will eventually be to the advantage of everyone in the long run, considering the circumstances
And indeed this will be a close vote

Yes that's my vote "swung" - just as soon as the job security issue is cleared up - because it is touted and yet NOTHING is secured under this agreement - the words are the words and what the agreement will be implemented on - not loosely worded assertions.fishtank wrote:Well if "I am number 6" and "Lovejoy" are in agreement that seals my vote.![]()
