OK, being a bit of a biff here, but what's the difference between a resign and a re-pick?
Its the same thing. Just got different names.

A resign is when all walks are made available for picking.

A repick is when vacant walks, new duties, any new floater positions, will be made available.

Both use seniority as the deciding factor.

The only option it gives is having a temporary repick before Dm26 is deployed or the office can wait and undertake a permanent resign after Dm26 is deployed.
Either way there is still a permanent resign for everyone regardless.

Some offices have not elected to go for temporary repicks because there is a bedding in period of DM26 and its likely some of the duties will be changed or the way they are structured will be altered. This means most offices would rather have a resign when it is settled exactly what a duty encompasses and how it is structured.

Why somebody does not see why there needs to be a resignwhen a 1/4 of people have been booted off their duties is beyond me. If you have good seniority and you find yourself without a duty you should have the opportunity to apply for a duty in a resign. There could be a new starter on a duty that has only been in the building for 2 month but finds himself on a duty wheras the a person that has done 30 years is now a reserve.

Plus it is only right that due to the duties all changing there is a total reset and everyone gets the chance, based on senority, to apply for a duty with this changed workload. There can be no argument against it.

You pick a duty and sign for it. Re-sign, repick, it's the same thing.

What you have stated is the doomsday scenario. It’s actually unlikely that someone 2 months in would remain on that pick while someone with 30yrs was booted out of the quad.

All offices are doing this so the idea that a tiny office of 24 duties for example, would HAVE to do a repick and then HAVE to do a resign, is ridiculous. It has been made fluid because all offices are different.

The reason I am against a mandatory whole office resign is because it wouldn’t be necessary for my office and secondly, it would be divisive and settling scores due to long held grudges would become prevalent and thirdly, it would result in a lot of people moving onto new walks that they don’t know and there simply aren’t the staff to train them and we have a lot of staff who would demand training, they would not be willing to learn on the job.

Like I stated, every office is different.

If the whole office agrees to not have one then that’s fine in my opinion, but if you have a person on a duty a senior man wants then I’m afraid they need to move. Seniority is the only way to do it.

It is major change.
It triggers a resign.
It isn't optional.

Thats why it requires a full resign because somebody senior can go up to any duty where somebody is below him and request they need to move. This ha s a chain effect where one person above another can simply request they move because he/she is more senior.
A full resign is the fairest way to stop these arguments.

"What you have stated is the doomsday scenario. It’s actually unlikely that someone 2 months in would remain on that pick while someone with 30yrs was booted out of the quad."

This is just an example. The same applies if somebody who has worked for royal mail for a year has a duty and somebody with 10 years has been kicked off theirs. If a 1/4 of staff are being removed from duties, a 1/4 of the staff will range in senority to newbies to old timers. Whatever office this is done in their are going to people without duties or placed on duties they don't want as a result of DM26 which is why a resign is critical.

"All offices are doing this so the idea that a tiny office of 24 duties for example, would HAVE to do a repick and then HAVE to do a resign, is ridiculous. It has been made fluid because all offices are different."

Nobody is saying you have to have a repick then a resign. This is only an option. DM26 can be implemented then a permanent resign can proceed after a brief bedding in phase.

Why would it not be necessary in your office? If its not necessary then that means if there was a resign everybody could go for the same duties. But clearly this isn't the case because you say it would be divisive and result in people settling scores due to long held grudges. Your office sounds really toxic! I don't know how people signing for duties based on the fair principle of seniority is settling grudges.
If you are more senior then it is your duty to pick, it is that simple! Your office in fact desperately does need a resign!

Only rurals and firms need training. It is not ideal but by the end of the week most people will be familiar on a van share duty. If staff choose to be disobedient and not apply themselves then the manager needs to go through the conduct process.

Don’t you think that that sounds like the very recipe for animosity and arguments?

There has already been a repick, there won’t be any need for a whole office resign post deployment. It won’t need to be done like that

So are you saying everyone is happy on what they're on and no senior people would want to move onto a duty that a less senior person is on?
Because if they did want to move you need a resign, end of.

Just for clarity if the senior person wanted the duty I've been on for eight years they should get it.

This phrase is part of Annex F to the agreement "Appendix F - Resourcing Principles and Flow Charts", "Post Deployment Permanent Repick Principles"

Does this mean all duties are up for repick then? The word 'confined' to me in this context says not. But if all duties are up for repick why was it necessary to include the phrase in the agreement?
The in-scope population for any repick will be confined to those duties directly affected by the USO change
