I will be making sure my office gets a good deal out of pegasus and ensuring flexibility is implemented in line with the area guidelines that were negotiated by my area/sub area delivery reps which in my personal opinion are superior to the national aggrement.

Once job and finish is laid to rest, proably later this year all the whippets in my office and the start early people will be starting on time and compared to their current olympic athlete speed they currently work at will be having a nice relaxing sunday afternoon stroll on delivery.

Reading on here about what happens in offices around the country and comparing to my office, i think cwu members at my office are very lucky indeed.
Wot gave you the idea i was "FEARFULL" of you or your members in YOUR office Big Daz?????

If you run a tight ship with Good members then good for you... More power to THERE elbows...

I DONT just talk from a DELIVERY background i talk from both DO & MC.. which has a different approach to AG workers... As to AG excisting anymore.. THEY DO IN MC's.. OPG'S and AG's...

It effects alot more the MC worker and no doubt the RDC or coders...? But i do know the DO's with P/T workers are in the end only helping cut a devide which helps only RM and not the average wage of the F/T worker.... Its on the slippery slope to the "RACE TO THE BOTTOM" That has been a figure and watch word of a HQ member...

OUT :cfo :lfo Yep.. I blame these two!!! AGAIN,,,,

give me a mock duty structure for a 28 hour 5 day week that alows for 3.5 hours delivery?

2hrs 15 mins prep is what duties are based on for a urban 3.5 hourv delivery
A typical 25 hour, which is a typical duty structure in this office, would be:

9.00 to 9.30 Final Prep
9.30 to 9.40 Load
9.40 to 9.55 Journey Out
9.55 to 13.25 Deliver (3.5 hours)
13.25 to 13.40 Journey Back
13.40 to 14.00 Break (20 minutes for a 5 hour duty)

As you will see only the final prep is carried out by a Part Timer, the actual prep is carried out by a full timer and that is to absorb the excess hours no longer needed on IPS, which is going to get less - as you can see there is more than one way to structure duties. IMO you have got off lightly up to now.

Thousands of new delivery points going up means there is no spare hours from IPS and my office/area is going to be among the final phase for the walk sequencing machinery.

Part timers start at 0630 in my office (0530 before the enforced start time changes)

I do 0630 to 1230 5 days a week, but im after a 4 day week doing 7.5 hours a day as per innovative duties in the flexibilty aggrement. But longs and shorts mean that saturday will be shorter than 7.5 hours and no doubt so will tuesdays.

By switching to 4 day week i can do a duty attendance/structure the same as a FT duty. Perhaps this is the way to go with part timers and longs and shorts.

How is it decided what a part time duty will deliver if it isn't a full delivery. I would imagine there are a few disgruntled posties at your office because I haven't seen anything that subscribes to deliveries being less than 3.5 hours. There also seems to be a disproportionate amount of overtime going to those who do less hours in order to make up their hours BUT only when it suits and what suits. You should be careful what you wish for when you talk about longs and shorts and don't be too eager to jump into those innovative flexible duties because there will be winners and losers. The influx of delivery points just means more part timers and that is a bad thing.

Regarding part time posties ive been one 8 yrs .When i came to rm i was shocked to see how people were using there own cars and coming in early i was allways one last of ones in last ones out,but even i gave in started using my car etc after a while.,Ive never really done over time but i have never been made up full time so i dont think the overtime issue makes much difference. The way i see it is fate is in all our own hands what we sow so shall we reap, and i just like to say the union should be pushing more for part time workers and lets stop the growing divide between full and part time staff we all need each others respect. :hmmmm

U dont work in a MC so on this score u wouldnt see a problem.. But it is... People who come in a job not at the same advantage as others will kick up a stink and rightly so.. In this case the P/Ts come in to the job with FULL SENIORITY of start date and NOT PRO RATA as it was pre WAY BACKWARD..

Then as a p/t postie with 8 years in ..You should only be given Seniority the hours you worked each week so you get fair accounted seniority...

It means alot..

I feel the union should be pushing for more rights for F/T workers and P/T but Not to be able to sign for O/T of F/T's As it was before THE WAY BACKWARD...

I suppose me being a postie who believes in the old school ways of doing things means feck all now as Seniority is being attacked by RM and thats the next thing the CWU bods will have to fight for us... So lets get PROPER people at the top to fight as OUR mouth pieces and not for there own gain...

Seniority is the main stay off this service... It means we get wot we put in over time.. Its the fairest way to alot jobs and it stops cheery picking and favoritisum... I moan at everything in my time but NEVER SENIORITY.. Until P/T got the same deal as F/T..

Its wrong...It cuts the job up.... It drives a wedge between us all...There should be a rule that P/T can only go on for 12 months and after a F/T job MUST BE GIVEN TO THE PERSON... Union let this slip in the past... Lets fight for this back.....

Its never to late...

If you work 5 hours a day (25 hour a week) you should get a 30mins meal relief.

OUT :cfo :lfo I BLAME THESE TWO!!

There is a supermarket influence from the jumped up Mars Bar Salesman . Asda have staff on part time contracts , you're talking bits of kids , middle aged women that wouldn't say boo to a goose etc and USDAW obviously !!, a sweetheart union which RM wanted the CWU to become last year .

If you go sick you get a overtime ban for a fortnight so staff struggle on regardless.[/b]What staff do is claim tax credits and other welfare , then pile on the overtime UNTIL the next time they are to be reassessed then start the process all over again .

Walmart ( the greatest company in the world according to our esteemed leader ) work exactly the same way , they've had 50 law suits taken out against them for dodgy practices .
many of their staff are on welfare . GMB have taken Asda to court for dodgy "Time Theft " sackings , the Scrapeaway plan to sack Reps etc , local bargaining not collective etc .

That's just part of the big picture that Old St are plotting for us . :lfo :lfo

Do any of the p/timers on here use your meal relief, I have been working at rm for 9 months, and havent in that time used my meal relief once more fool me I guess . I think it is swings and roundabouts, some times I will finish early say 1/2 hour early and shoot of home, other times I work 1 hour over but claim the overtime. And yes shoot me I use my car :nervous shock horror.

Meal reliefs:

From the Way Forward Agreement:

3 hours 31 to 4 hours 59 20 mins 20
5 hours to 7 hours 30mins 30

In order to qualify for a 30 minute break on a 25 hour duty you would need to EXCEED 5 hours per day.
