new starters supposed to start at 8 (due to 25hr contract), but known to come in at 5 cos walks aint prepared for them, cant really win at our place if you work to contract time.
WTF? Sh*t, don't fancy your luck m8, never come in early, never have ,never will and it really pi**es off the DOM
If you think they can get away with it then they can! fight for your rights!!
I never come in early as to me it's working for nothing. If you come in 30mins early each day that's 2 and a half hours per week for nothing. 1 hour equals 5 hours. It's scary when you work it out.
The days of coming in before time and finishing at 11 have well and truely gone. I'm lucky to make 20 minutes, even tuesdays are heavy.
we start at 5. I come in about ten to 5. p/t start at 6:30 and most come in between 6 - 6:30. new starts in our office are on 22.5 hour contract 9-2 with 30 min break but they come in at 6:30 and don't get paid!!!!!!!!!!1

That's what RM are hoping for - they introduce these under 30 hour contracts knowing that a full delivery cannot be prepped and delivered in time, they also know that new starters wont rock the boat so they are getting what are basically slaves doing work for free.

I used to come in before my time and either start my frame ot do ips.But we got a new temp manager who said i can come in before 6:30 and give myself a head start, but he would only pay me from 6:30.So i refuse to go in early, even if he asks. His loss.
im deputy rep in eastbourne and between me and the main rep we have near enough stopped early starts(have to be careful cos of harrassment) and have also got everyone to have a meal relief before they go out which has improved morale and saved our canteen. come on posties wake up and smell the coffe NO CARS NO EARLY STARTS AND VOTE YESSSSSSSSS
I usually get in about 5:10am but this is because of nightbuses to work.
I either get one between 4:50-5am or the next lot which arrive between 5:20-5:30am which would mean I'm cutting it close to be on time for 5:40am start.
I sometimes start early to see how many complete and utter DICKHEADS there are willing to F**K their own job up and everybody else's GET PAID FROM THE TIME YOU START & START FROM THE TIME YOU GET PAID God give me strength!!!!!
royal mail say we are over paid and under worked ..............
thats because too many start be4 the correct time, finish early and the bosses think the duties are to light
I start about 40 minutes earlier everyday, just so that I can get a free parking space (Coventry delivery office does not have a car park).
I don't have my own walk, so if I started doing my job the proper way, RM managers would make my life hell, as has happened in the past when I tried it for a month.
Thats not on is it Rob
So are you sort of saying, you're forced to start early.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
