new starters supposed to start at 8 (due to 25hr contract), but known to come in at 5 cos walks aint prepared for them, cant really win at our place if you work to contract time.

WTF? Sh*t, don't fancy your luck m8, never come in early, never have ,never will and it really pi**es off the DOM :nana
If you think they can get away with it then they can! fight for your rights!!

I never come in early as to me it's working for nothing. If you come in 30mins early each day that's 2 and a half hours per week for nothing. 1 hour equals 5 hours. It's scary when you work it out.

The days of coming in before time and finishing at 11 have well and truely gone. I'm lucky to make 20 minutes, even tuesdays are heavy.

Well done to Postman for a great site

That's what RM are hoping for - they introduce these under 30 hour contracts knowing that a full delivery cannot be prepped and delivered in time, they also know that new starters wont rock the boat so they are getting what are basically slaves doing work for free. Image

I used to come in before my time and either start my frame ot do ips.But we got a new temp manager who said i can come in before 6:30 and give myself a head start, but he would only pay me from 6:30.So i refuse to go in early, even if he asks. His loss.

I always say that you can set your watch by me. If I'm at the signing-on desk, it must be exactly 5.05!

I usually get in about 5:10am but this is because of nightbuses to work.

I either get one between 4:50-5am or the next lot which arrive between 5:20-5:30am which would mean I'm cutting it close to be on time for 5:40am start.

I start about 40 minutes earlier everyday, just so that I can get a free parking space (Coventry delivery office does not have a car park).

I don't have my own walk, so if I started doing my job the proper way, RM managers would make my life hell, as has happened in the past when I tried it for a month.

So are you sort of saying, you're forced to start early.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
