You are a man. Have you done any research into the experience of women working at Royal Mail? Have you looked into any data?Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 15:15In my nearly 20 years service I have never witnessed this. Women are often overlooked, not even asked, when the opportunities arise. An assumption is made that they don’t want to be made up. Or men are just made up on the hush hush, jumping the seniority queue.Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 06:55As apposed to an all out strike where everyone loses out on everything. No, your contract is your contract regardless of gender. Plenty of opportunities, especially lately to have your contract made up to full time. Unless people enjoy the flexibility. Then we are in a cake and eat it territory. If we need IA then an OT ban/work to rule ballot would be impactful and least harmful to us.Barnacle wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025, 18:06The main issue with overtime bans is that they disproportionately impact women as they are less likely to be on a FT 37hr contract and therefore more likely to be topping up their hours with overtime.TopperGas wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025, 17:40Zero chance of enforcing an OT ban when probably half the work force are part timers who rely upon OT just to survive.LouBarlow wrote: ↑30 Jul 2025, 12:22I’ve heard about proposals to freeze OT and do all the other things you mention for as long as I’ve been in this job and it never happens. It’s always strikes. Might have happened at a local level but not nationally. I agree though it should definitely be an option.
People shouldn't ever make financial decisions based on overtime income.
Just because you have no experience of this, does not mean it is not a truism.

The rep sent printouts to the staff to ask what they would vote.Sean06 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 16:29Have you asked them all??and are they just saying no but actually voting yes?hewittinspain wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 15:33Not from my feedback it will be a massive yes. What does me being a man have to do with it? I work with and talk to my female colleagues. Iv represented male and female colleagues. Iv overseen revisions and repicks. I have arranged uplifts from PT to FT. I have never taken gender into account. Only seniority.
The only person being sexist here is you it seems.

Denying that there could possibly be an issue, just because you personally haven’t experienced it, is not helpful.

Just stop calling me a liar because you disagree.
