No one will have double the work load to deliver? That’s just a play on words.
Prepping 2 days mail and delivering it every second day minus a handful of first class letters, with rounds after the lapsing was integrated means more than double what we were delivering 2 years ago

Same here, can only complete on a dead day with no d2ds.hans solo wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 19:58We cant complete duties just now
We are maxed out to our finishing time now with the last revisions
And dont mention intentionally shafting scotland with later finish times
Reduce fatigue on delivery ?
Whats the walking person to do to reduce fatigue
Newton mearns pilot - they have reduced walk spans and put o-time in on morning sorts just to push folk out on street
Its all a farce

It's as if duties haven't doubled in size over the last 15 years to make up for the drop in letters....
Oh, wait.

Plus the majority of the letters might be sequenced but there's plenty more to sort manuallySpacePhoenix wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 19:41What have the union been smoking? If 2C, DSA and D2D are going to be every other day then it WILL be double mail every other day. There's so little 1C these days.

We’ve probably done both of the duties I’m on about 4-5 times in the last 3 years or so.
When I told the area rep this the other day he couldn’t believe it.
Asked me why that was…….
The 3 people covering 4 duties in my office would mean out of the 4 deliveries, only one would get a delivery twice in that week.
The outdoor span is , on an average day about 6 hours to do a pairing.

So our rounds are now about 30% bigger than 2006 but we will have the same call rate as back then. I guess we will just have to work faster and harder to complete. And we are all 19 years older than 2006. Im fit for nothing on my day off as I’m exhausted. It’s apt that you call them rest days coz that’s all I can do with it… rest

How do you work that out, when on Mondays and Tuesdays there will be triple mail to deliver? And on other days, apart from Saturday double mail.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 19:16
It is also important to correct that no one will have double the workload to deliver.

The post on FB yesterday said Newham(?) had a 90%(!!) call rate after going live, whilst MW was blaming the MC it seems he might be correct we won't have double as it looks more like triple post, probably even more at the end of the week. Instead of just going live with pilots why couldn't the business do some testing as we all know if post doesn't go out for a couple of days by the third & fourth day it's got completely out of control, particularly for the customers who have loads of sales brochures/magazines.SMS1969 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2025, 09:13How do you work that out, when on Mondays and Tuesdays there will be triple mail to deliver? Can anybody seriously see RM(DK) paying non drivers to just be van assistants on a Saturday? That's almost as barmy as suggesting we could become local care assistants checking on the elderly.

Re: LTB 048/25 – UPDATE ON THE USO PILOTS
The issue is how it's being implemented, nobody has any issues with 2c post being delivered on alternative days, but there's no way we can deliver up to 3 days mail on the same size rounds when the rounds have been expended over the years as 2c post as dropped. The original idea of shortening the rounds should have been carried out and post should go out on every duty on alternative days, not swapping then around each week, so some days you have 3 days post to deliver.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 19:16It is strange that some posts don’t refer to the fact that the Regulator who has watched Royal Mail decline due to unfair competition and E substitution and done nothing.
They are now stating that the USO is financially unsustainable and if it is not this option then it will require a legislation change which will reduce the days the USO is delivered to 3 or 4.
The status quo which is currently not working is not going to remain.
So it would be madness for the CWU to sit on the sidelines shouting slogans about a rank and file movement when change is going to happen.
In terms of non drivers there is going to be plenty of work for non drivers on a Saturday including as van assistants because parcels are at their highest on Friday and Saturday.
It is also important to correct that no one will have double the workload to deliver. The principle is :
1st class mail gets delivered to every address 6 days a week. Non priority items will be included when delivering 1st class to an address.
All parcels will delivered to every address 6 days per week.
Tracked and specials will be delivered 6 days per week.
Only DSA,second class and D2D will be delivered every other day. The majority of it sequenced. The average call rate is 48% it is expected to increase to 78%.
The last time call rates were that high was back in 2006.

Hope it works because a 4 day week is greatted_e_bear wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 12:42That question doesn't make sense, why wouldn't it be possible, the Saturday attendance would be parcels and 1c items as you say and I'd assume the other 3 days would be either full delivery or parcels and 1c for 2 duties, according to the examples in the downloads you can access by going through the link at the top of the post the 3 week days are 9.42 attendance so long days, the Saturday is 7 hours.Alfietherat wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 11:57How can offices achieve a 4 day week when on a Saturday we would only deliver parcels and 1st Class Letters. I counted my amount of 1st Call Letters the last few Saturdays and there was not many manly dsa letters.

Got a link to the FB post? Wonder if there was a shitload of deferred mail due to the DTS system which hit the 5 day limitTopperGas wrote: ↑04 Mar 2025, 10:53The post on FB yesterday said Newham(?) had a 90%(!!) call rate after going live, whilst MW was blaming the MC it seems he might be correct we won't have double as it looks more like triple post, probably even more at the end of the week. Re: LTB 048/25 – UPDATE ON THE USO PILOTS
1 day of mail - 2/3 days of mail.
2/3 is double of triple 1.
Cwu - nobody is doing double the work!
As I stated if the duties are not shortened then this new way of working will be a disaster. Most posties cannot do anymore than they already are. Cutting staff and doubling the work load will not suddenly make them work faster. If anything they'll be slower as they'll be more fatigued. Plus they'll have less time outdoors after 2/3 days mail gets thrown in and sorted.
