And Royal Mail needs no agreement. Continued executive action with no rebuttal from the CWU besides more talk and endless joint statements confirms that:
The CWU are putting a lot of pressure on Royal Mail, it's just a shame a lot of people can't see it.

Re: Vote No.
Not being argumentative but??
Exactly what pressure?
The only actions seem to be from Royal Mail imposing things at their leisure and only a whimper of discontent from the CWU?
let us keep to reality and debate things without spin to move forward

Re: Vote No.
You might believe you're right, but let's see how things move forward with the latest statement from the CWU?
"Meetings have taken place with Royal Mail Group to discuss the crucial issues of restoring quality of service and reviewing failed revisions.
The employer has accepted the need for a joint statement and more importantly, a set of agreed actions on these issues. It has also been agreed any statement will be launched via a joint zoom meeting of every manager and CWU representative in the UK.
We are meeting the company again today and will report on any developments. We are fully committed to getting this matter resolved in a timely manner to enable the ballot to commence but it is absolutely crucial we get this right - for members, customers and the future of the company".
You might disagree, but I have faith in the leadership of the CWU.

Re: Vote No.
What you have just stated has been going on for the last 12 months, yet Royal Mail simply ignores while the CWU kicks the can down the road yet again. Common sense dictates they are simply playing for time and introduce more revisions by executive action.
The only reason they pulled the ballot a day before voting was the uncertainty of a yes vote. People are very naïve to believe any differently, despite the reasons given in a press release.

Don't believe social media when it comes to voting. It will be a yes vote.redlen wrote: ↑03 Jun 2023, 00:07What you have just stated has been going on for the last 12 months, yet Royal Mail simply ignores. The last 12 months was dictated by Simon Thompson. The negotiators agreement was agreed without him being present.

Re: Vote No.
A yes or no vote is simply your own opinion, which you are perfectly entitled to have.
Simon Thompson would have had very little input in the last 12 month's negotiations being the CEO.
He would have his negotiators to do that on his personal recommendations.
Would you expect Dave Ward to do Terry Pullingers' job being DGS Postal?

Re: Vote No.
It is each and everyone's decision how to vote on the deal that effects them personally and they should have the full facts in the workplace and with the ballot papers. This is part of democracy the fact that this agreement is lacking or that the business has been mismanaged into this point of contention is neither here or there. Both sides need hang their head in shame that we and the public and service was held to ransom by the whole RM board as they got a bonus for the expense of the service. And the union said we can get a no strings pay deal without change well times change not pleased with any side on this so called deal it is all who will have to deliver it day in day out. Think on how you vote if we get a vote and if you do get a vote use it!

Woody they are all great questions you put, and i dont really have a answer to all of them.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023, 19:11That's a nice little soundbite but....
What are you going to do to fight it?
Apart from putting a cross in a different box obviously.
Who's going to lead this fight?
Who is going to organise it?
What are your aims?
How will you achieve them?
What will you accept as a 'win'?
And the most important question in any fight.
What are you prepared to lose?
I personally am quite prepared to do whatever it takes to bring the company back to some sort of sanity.
The cross in the box is called a democratic vote, if the union are not prepared to back whatever way it falls then why have a vote?
I am struggling to come to terms with the unions capitulation, all their soundbites through this dispute have been cast aside like confetti in the face of the companies stand.
Do we really want to be the template that companies go to when trying to break unions hold on the workforce?
I do not believe us signing away out t&cs in a agreement that basically shafts every last one of us is the way forward and neither should the union.
Any agreement with this bunch of liars will not be adhered to and to think they will is delusional.
I believe in a fair days pay for a fair days work with a start and finish time, i dont believe that is too much to ask, and as for annualised/flexible working thats for the fairies.
We are a ageing workforce and with it come the usual aches and pains, RM have made the job more physical and then wonder why the sickness is the way it is.
Maybe controversial, but i would let RM start to employ the owner/driver flexible workers they want to employ, protect the old workforce as much as they can and the new starts will know exactly what they have signed up to. Maybe in a few years when they see the massive turnover in their new staff and the problems that this causes they will appreciate the old staff a bit more and try to hold onto them.
Not sure how all this has come to pass, where the union to passive at the start or where they just out manoeuvred by RM who where aggressive from the get go. Its a strange one as i have lived through and been part of a lot of disputes in my time and somehow we appear to have lost when everything says we should have won.

On a general outlook, I think the workers will edge for a yes vote, I know the terms and conditions are going to be changed massively against us, but our people are also needing a solve, and the rise offered to help with our everyday lives, ..........

Re: Vote No.
I think he has been smoking again, all the polls lead to a massive NO vote ,Royal Mail know it ,the CWU know it and the posties do so lets get on with it. Other companies will now start planning for xmas and with the dispute unresolved Royal Mail will be set to lose more millions as we speak, it is in their interest to stop the attacks on T's and C's and drop the seasonal hours, maybe the CWU have a plan after all ,maybe they have learnt lessons and the next round of strikes will be harsher,we live in hope.

Pressure what pressure
To focus minds they should have put out strike dates
They could always cancel them at the last minute as there pretty good at that
And people that think we’ve been on strike ffs we’ve only played at strike action
Should have been out for weeks at a time
We are constantly being played by RM and CWU
That’s over a year with 2% pay increase imposed
Every other company was well over 5%
We will not get that back in any backdated deal so already in the negative and shafted

A poster so positive, that he or she cannot provide a single constructive reason for voting against this agreement, despite the multiple times I have asked them. Come on Mr Ray-of-Sunshine, fill us all in with your vast spectrum of uplifting positivity that would result from this deal being thrown out. Cheer ‘Mr negative = Lou barlow’ up!
