kirkleyrunner wrote: As regards to the forum, there is nothing stopping Angard staff from browsing all parts of it, as I have with interest. It can seem a bit "them and us" with there being a separate Angard section, but as that section is now full of anger and frustration, it's probably for the best!
The reason why the Angard forum is separate is so that it's easy for the Angard staff to access without having to trawl through the entire place looking for stuff that affects them.

And what you said

Today, after working through wind and rain all week, I was paid 1p. I've been paid a total of £290.01 for five weeks of full-time delivery work.

I have posted in the Angard section, but thought that you guys need to know this is still happening.

Can not believe this is still happening you would think that someone would feel some kind of responsibility for this complete cock up,what do these people have to do to get paid, they do the work and still they persist in making a mess of it all, someones head should roll for it

It's a disgrace but The pressure is not on Royal Mail as Angard casuals have no union representation and no collective voice. The greed of Royal Mail knows no bounds , membership levels in some units may be low but it's a damn good job 80 per cent of the work force is in the union or they would be doing similar things to us that's a fact .

Is Mr Duncan simply going to hide until it all blows over.
No matter how much they may or may not have saved this has been a disgrace,a PR disaster,an embarrassed to our members and a wake up call to those who believe, union or no union....that it can't happen to us.

Yeah dingo but they are entitled to representation any union rep would find it very difficult to keep their mouth shut when they have seen so much go on with regards to the Angard staff even i had no worry's about taking it on with the staff in the Mail Center as they had not been payed,i had a young man ask me to speak to his little lad so that he did not believe that Christmas was going to be cancelled because his dad had not been payed for 3 weeks and he had come of the UN-employment for this mess so he was not getting any money he had to go and get an emergency payment while we sorted getting some cash out of RM we had couple of people that had to do that,so i could not stand back and see it go on without pushing to get someone to listen. You don't have to be a rep it is about how you feel when you see some people getting messed about, you work to live not the other way round.Angard staff can join the union if they want nout stopping them.

Bandit you dead right , all right people would want to help those Angard employees who have been treated in this appalling manner. However there is a difference in how Royal Mail respond to the issue compared to a full time staff or part time staff on a permanent contract .

Royal Mail do not have to negotiate any changed with the Union on what they want to do with Angard staff whereas they do with Royal mAil staff.

Your right mate but i really enjoyed pigging the management of and dear old Moya answered my email very quick and then that was when our Angard staff got money so that was all i wanted for them was money,i could not stand by and let people feel so down when i was getting payed,we needed those people so i just went in and helped not for any gratification for me but just to get what people had worked for and we all had a laugh and i made some new friends.

I believe that HQ has been too quiet over this.
The Angard employees have been left to try to interest the press in their plight themselves.
It would have been possible for the union to help publicise the ridiculous behaviour by our employer and i think in the long run it would have helped us to show members exactly what they are capable of.
Most members outside this forum are completely unaware of Angard and what they have been up to.
It's either a missed opportunity or somebody bottled it for "political" reasons. :cuppa

A good point ft. What a recruitment exercise that would have been: By pointing out the treatment of Angard staff and the danger of bypassing the union by using an increasing number of agency staff which the CWU won't be able to negotiate on terms and conditions. TBH it's a very dangerous practice for the union to ignore RMs use of these workers - if the numbers increase, coupled with PT non union members, it leaves the union on the edge I would have thought.

I think its symptomatic of the problems most of us, if I may be so bold, recognise on a daily basis at whatever function we work in.

Royal Mail ploughed ahead at their usual break neck speed without thinking through the consequences, with little or no planning, no support in place and the usual happened it all fell apart, the problem is that those who usually dig them out of it (us lot), couldn't this time and now they are paddling like f**k to get their head above water and the mess sorted out.

The CWU meanwhile, operated at their usual glacial place, and right from the outset were on the back foot. Everything by-passed them, but they did send out supportive LTBs, they also started a recruitment drive among Angard Casuals, but I doubt it was successful as it was towards the end of most peoples contract. No doubt there will be a motion at conference and lessons will be learn't - all a little to late for Angard employees this year though.

The only people to come out of this sorry mess with any respect or kudos are the Angard Casuals themselves. Not sure I would of continue to work for Angard faced with what they were. Then there are the ones that deserve real praise and can be rightly proud of themselves, the ones who refused to continue working till action was taken, the ones who took unofficial action in the canteen, and the ones that attempted valiantly, and in some cases succeeded to bring the whole state of affairs to the public's and media's attention. They deserve all the plaudits and applause in this situation so here you go :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

It is strange how people look at things there were many letters to HQ complaining that the CWU had produced 3 LTBs in December complaining over how Royal Mail were treating Angard staff but had not produced the same number on an update on the national talks !

Predicting trouble ahead the 16th of January looms . Will be intreating what decision people who now have some for correct reasons make ! Support the union and don't agree revisions or go independent and not agree with the union and effectively agree with what Royal Mail want to do ! There are no other choices which are creditable ! I also believe that the CWU must tell the members exactly what they are looking to change with regards to the delivery agreement , the mail centre agreement , managements plan to reduce the terms in the MTSF agreement , the world class issue , what has happened to colleague share and of course the issue which ultimately decides the fate of Royal Mail European state aid

They do? When was this did I miss it? I thought RM management put forward their proposals and the union HQ bent over and let them do what they wanted!

Of course we do still get paid so I guess they didn't completely mess that up... unless you count the phantom shares of course, didn't get paid for them did we so workers not getting paid what they are owed isn't a new RM trick is it! :arrrghhh
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
