Everything is only words calpsy...even laws.
What's your point?
Do you think Royal Mail will continue to pay for a very expensive insurance bond when the majority of duties will use a van?
No insurance bond...No private cars on delivery....it's just economics, you have to evolve calpsy, you're a dinosaur,a relic from the past, evolution or...extinction...your choice.
calpsy wrote:This isnt meant as an insult either BUT

Yes I read that but the immediate bit before the red quote explains why and because of that its not, at least I don't think it was, meant as a personal insult. Just a description. Whereas as stop crying ffs has no validity as a debating tool

EH ? ? ?
I typed "But" but I meant "bit".

I will try to explain it again I was tired last night.

Fishhtank called you a dinosaur because in his estimation you are not evolving to the new reality of no PCoD - in fact as I suggested you appear to be in denial of it happening. In that context calling you a dinosaur was not meant as an insult (but you knew that anyway :hmmmm ) merely a description of your mindset. Where as your "ffs stop crying" was not debating it was fishing.

Hope that's a bit clearer.

I think if they wanted to ban cars it would of happened years ago. We've been told over and over that we're not going to get the new vans park and loop or what ever its called. Don't know if diesel at £130 odd a ltr and parking restrictions in the area has anything to do with it. Just about everyone has drifted back to using their cars now.

Driving into work, going through a series of bends at 60 ( the road's got national speed limit, and those bends can be done at 60, just one or two are more fun at that speed ), my mind was elsewhere ( on A/L early ) & I notice I've edged into the oncoming lane, so I gave the wheel a good yank to correct....it was too good, so I correct that, then correct the correction, then correct the correction of the original correction ( each time the yawing across the longtitudinal axis is getting more extreme....the fishtailing was getting worse ) until the point I distinctly remember drifting sideways along the road, immediately before the Point of ESA ( Earth, Sky Ambulance ).

Then it was "...!!!....BOLLOCKS!!! I can't dump the missus up at her sister's tomorrow...where's the light switch?....turn the bloody radio off, I ain't listenting to it now....right, 'ere's the door handle...cock it, it won't open...who put them bushes and trees there in the way?....ok, other side...bit stiff, some bugger needs to come along and cut this grass, the bloody door is dragging on it....right that's it, I'm out, where's me fag? Oh it's ok, I still got it & it's still lit...."

Blimey Jim hope you are ok, dont want to change your name to stunt driver I take it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Dont keep commenting on it then ! ! :left:

Seriously ONLY on here is there an issue about cars . In my office ALL the managers know about it and dont say a word .

EVERY postie in the office DOESNT have a problem with it .

EVEN the 2 closest offices to us do the same and THEY in turn have told us others near to them all do it and WILL continue to do it because it will NEVER be ruled out .

Some of you as commented before about me are in denial . If it happens then job is done by the book ..... no probs . BUT EVERYONE UP HERE is saying it wont .

Time will tell .

Thank you guys for your concern ( and I hope you had a chuckle as well ), now I have a new set of wheels, I'm hoping to get the last of my effects from the Vectra ( and take a few pics, which I'll try to post, if I can persuade the wife to show me how....again  )

And Krussel, this was my 3rd Vauxhall, and while I'm mildly dis-chuffed at wrecking it ( I'd just taken out a Commsave loan to get the water pump done, get a couple of tyres & get my bike on the road with a few mods ) I have to admit I am chuffed to f**k at how Vauxhalls look after me, cos this is the second big prang I've had, the other was hitting a delaminated lorry tyre in my Cav, at 80mph on the M25 & spinning 180 degrees ( took a while to be able to close my eyes & not see the oncoming traffic :cry ), but in both cases, while my car has ended up UDF, everyone inside has got out almost without a scratch! Yea, Vauxhall!!! :Applause :Applause :Applause

In our office it is now against the rules to use your own car at any point between signing in and signing out. Our dom has made it very clear that anyone caught in breach of this rule will be immediately dismissed. He has said that this will be applied to every office in the area within a fairly short timescale. Whilst I believe very little that managers tell us, on this occasion as he is only applying the latest agreement I see no reason to not believe him.

If you wanna use your cars in other areas then go ahead, use your own fuel, pay your own insurance, get the job sizes increased, take the risks and help RM save even more money . . . . just don't moan when it all turns sour on you.

the union has been asking people to not use their cars for years, if you don't support the union why bother coming on here to moan, just put up with whatever shite RM throws at you.

Who in there right mind would use there own car. Apart from, possibly, being illegal. the added costs, I.E fuel and general wear and tear of your car. means you must have been born without a brain. Still I guess that qualifies you to work for R.M.

I guarantee that 99% of managers will turn a blind eye to postmen using there car because it all boils down to money and Royal mail save millions through postmen using there car. I would love to see cars stop but its never going to happen. Infact the new agreement works in royal mails favour because now they can wipe there hands clean of any responsibility if something goes wrong while postmen use there car. But here's the key point Royal mail also know that 99% of postmen won't be put off by this and as long as managers decide to look the other way then cars will never cease in my opinion.

When is 'using your car' not 'using your car'?

There's a couple of lads take their car to some place near the end of their walk, as the reckon they'd otherwise be stranded. They don't take any mail, and reckon they have got the OK to travel to more than one place of work during the day. They don't need the bond, for what it's worth, and reckon they will continue to do so after the revision, if it ever happens, unless of course the managers/planners organise transport back to the office.
