How come you get so much defined area supplement? i part time too and only get a mere fraction of that! lol
Perhaps my defined area is more defined than yours ?

How much do you get (I get 30/40 of the £20 that full timers get)

I also avoid D2D by being a floater - the reason I picked the job.
Cant stand doing D2D, hate it with a passion! lol

Umm I only get 5.80 defined area supplement. Dont really understand how its all calculated.
What IS a defined area supplement?? I don't get any at all

I believe it is a payment we used to get sometime in the past, however it is written into our contracts and can't be taken off us. I think it varies because it's based on a local agreement within each office.

gspot01:Private Message[hr]spedley if u have it on your payslip then u must know what u get paid it for, please enlighten us
I honestly don't know what it is for and I have asked but nobody is really sure.

Using a whole weeks worth of brain power, my guess is that our office was moved several years ago to another town and that the £20 per week is for working out of our 'defined area' and to be spent on travel expenses etc

Why it is pro-rata I don't know? Perhaps I'm only supposed to do 30/40-ths of the travel?

Having googled it without much luck, I think its a hangover from a previous agreement where because of local conditions or contracts you get a payment for working in your particular area. So it sounds like a Rep did some good work in your office at some point in the past. My guess is it might be something either pre SDD or to do with SDD itself.

Is it not something to do with areas which have big problems with recruitment and retention of staff.

We used to get a DRAS payment - Difficult Retention (or Recruitment?) Area Supplement but I think that was done away with some time ago. Perhaps your payroll personell are in some sort of time warp. I'd keep quiet about it if I were you - they might want it back.
