Well we have been doing it for 6+ months and by and large it has been accepted but there are still problems with packets/overtime. TBH although it is designed to alleviate weight over the shoulder it is nothing more than a method to get to the point of delivery, take the same pouch you would have taken anyway, have your pouches to hand plus of course the parcels and specials.

Hence my point in the previous post of having a definitive way of delivery, one two or three bundles both working close up and moving the van every street or so, OR taking a pouch each with each having a key to the van, OR dropping one off with pouch drops and collecting him/her after delivery.

For those using hire vans, and none of our park and loopers use them because there is only a single set of keys, it would be better to have them swapped out for existing RED liveried vans with two keys if possible.

OUR OFFICE WENT TO VAN SHARING 7 WEEKS AGO. (4 VANS)

WEEK 1: EVERYONE CUT OFF. MAJORITY OF WALKS WERE TO BIG.

WEEK 2: EVERYONE CUT OFF. WALKS TO BIG

WEEK 3: (1 VAN) THE TWO DUTIES ARE NOT SHARED ANYMORE ALTHOUGH TWO PEOPLE SHARE A VAN LEAVING THE OFFICE.

WEEK 4: (2 VANS) AS ABOVE DUTIES ARE NOT BEING SHARED, EACH DUTY IS BEING DONE INDIVIDUALLY.

WEEK 5: (3 VANS) AS WEEK 4

WEEK 6: ALL VANS NOW LEAVING THE OFFICE WITH 2 POSTIES BUT NOT SHARING DUTIES BUT THE NEW WAY OF WORKING IS GOING WELL ACCORDING TO OUR MANAGER. ;liar
p.s. still lots of cut off.

So basicaly you are only using the vans to get conveyed out ?

Who is doing all the oversized items, and what do you do with the vans at night, have the walks increased ?
Sounds like the walks are almost unacheivable in many cases ?

When we tried van sharing in our office, one of the pair ups used a transit van and that was a push to get everything in on the businest day. but mostly we used vx combi's.

The two duty's they have been trying on this van sharing has gone from the silly to the utterly unbelievable,it started with two going out in the van with two walks they had trouble fitting the mail in so they packed it all in bags could'nt do the work two much there, then they were given a golf trolley to take with them but only 1 set of keys so the guy could'nt get back in the van to get any more mail or to move the van, they were given the other set of keys still could'nt fit all the work in not enough hours, they now have a bike to take out and have to fit the mail in around it so one takes a bike and goes back to the van to get more mail the guy with the van still has to have help to finish his walk from the guy with the bike and they both have to book O/T so it does not seem to be working but they have been told to keep trying different ways and to knuckle down what ever that means!

I forgot to tell you about the bit where we don't have enough vans, because we are attached to a Mail Center we have to share our vans with Network and Collections so far we have more vans of the road than on,the poor guy who does the vans and keys in distribution has regular barnies with our sad smuck managers over vans because they have to use them for collections and our lot not getting back in when they should is causing many problems, the 2 that are sharing a van with a bike and lots of other unhelpful ideas in a hope that something might work is also late back with the van which means that a collection was late last week so that has caused a ruck and we have now got another ruck because the DIM has been told no more vans no more cash.

The problem with 'van-share' is that it's being implemented without any thought of how it's going to work and in typical RM fashion, they refuse to listen to any concerns that are raised and they insist that they're right and everyone else is wrong.

In order for all these changes that RM want you really need excellent junior management and even better senior management and as we know, we have neither  but the first thing that is needed is MORALE and we know that is in very short supply at the moment.
