It's a national review by the Joint Working Group following the first year of implementation.

It's RM that are pushing this one size fits all solution for this year.
I think the idea is that they do not want to provoke a flood of Flexible Working Applications off the back of this before they deploy the later starts next year which could snowball out of control.

I do think they will try to revisit it next year though but that might depend on how far those changes push us.

It's nothing to do with how weak they think the union is, they proved that last year when they tore up all the agreements and imposed their own changes.

The business is f****d, they have no coherent plan for unfucking it. It's their own blood they are smelling and they are going to charge ahead no matter how the union reacts because they have no plan b. All any union can do in this situation is damage limitation and try to protect members at local level.

I know people are upset about doing more hours up front, but it makes sense for RM to do it that way, as if people leave during the longer week, they will pay them the extra they have worked, along with annual leave etc, whereas if you work the short weeks first, you could end up owing the company money if you leave.

It makes sense for them as they are getting 10’s of thousands of hours labour with an iou attached, great for their cashflow but they have just been telling us they could go bankrupt.

That is what I meant. We were told about seasonal variations starting in September this morning, but the later finishes (and start times) are from March next year.

I think you will find that as part of your local revision and in line with Network adjustments they will try and move your start time by 30 minutes before next March.

That might well be the case, especially if the union doesn’t fight it. My point was it clearly states in the agreement how this should be implemented, but again, as others have stated, this will be the third time already they have ignored it. We have just had a revision a few months back, so not sure how having another one now would work either.

Don’t know how people are fresh to turn up an hour before their start time. I’m just about ready when I get in after the strains of the previous day.
