Re: season hours
It was also clear that having the 24 minutes at the start of the duty will be reviewed taking into account the impact on indoor productivity.
Is there a fixed timescale for that review or could they change it any time they want?
Is it a national review or will it be done on an office by office basis?

Tell your rep to stop sulking and enter a disagreement.luddite wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 18:21What do you think we can say!!!Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 18:16And you guys said what?
The agreement is clear, it's at the beginning.
Our rep predicted this and was the reason he would not support this agreement.
Tell me what we should do?
The agreement is clear enough.
Royal Mail are clear, there is a standard template and no room for units making up their own rules.
The slide show states.
Design: Single, top down; not unit led
The agreement states.
1.2 Key principles: The approach to seasonal hours will be based on a national standard design set out below.
1.2.4 The first deployment of seasonal variation will be in Autumn 2023 and will require the additional time to be worked before the standard duty current start times
It's not a difficult disagreement to win to be honest.

Re: season hours
It's a national review by the Joint Working Group following the first year of implementation.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 18:31It was also clear that having the 24 minutes at the start of the duty will be reviewed taking into account the impact on indoor productivity.

Re: season hours
Be interested to see how this pans out, will RM just ignore any grievances or will they buckle.
My money is on them ignoring it and saying operational needs.

No one's sulking.
If it comes to it a disagreement will go in.
Our COM said it was highly likely as his boss would not tolerate down time.
Our early starters always make sure there is dead time before our last lorry comes in.

Yep I think that's exactly what's going to happen. What can we do? Go on strike?scotchy1962 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 18:56Be interested to see how this pans out, will RM just ignore any grievances or will they buckle.

It's RM that are pushing this one size fits all solution for this year.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 18:56Be interested to see how this pans out, will RM just ignore any grievances or will they buckle.
I think the idea is that they do not want to provoke a flood of Flexible Working Applications off the back of this before they deploy the later starts next year which could snowball out of control.
I do think they will try to revisit it next year though but that might depend on how far those changes push us.

Woody they will revisit everything, the union are as weak as they have ever been, they can smell blood.
Expect them to push as many boundaries as they legally can.

Re: season hours
It's nothing to do with how weak they think the union is, they proved that last year when they tore up all the agreements and imposed their own changes.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 19:12Woody they will revisit everything, the union are as weak as they have ever been, they can smell blood.

The business is f****d, they have no coherent plan for unfucking it. It's their own blood they are smelling and they are going to charge ahead no matter how the union reacts because they have no plan b. All any union can do in this situation is damage limitation and try to protect members at local level.

Re: season hours
According to the chairman at the AGM, it is 1.5m hoursClappedoutpostie wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 17:38It makes sense for them as they are getting 10’s of thousands of hours labour with an iou attached, great for their cashflow but they have just been telling us they could go bankrupt.LouBarlow wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 16:14I know people are upset about doing more hours up front, but it makes sense for RM to do it that way, as if people leave during the longer week, they will pay them the extra they have worked, along with annual leave etc, whereas if you work the short weeks first, you could end up owing the company money if you leave.

Re: season hours
Maybe you don't need the early starters then?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: season hours
That might well be the case, especially if the union doesn’t fight it. My point was it clearly states in the agreement how this should be implemented, but again, as others have stated, this will be the third time already they have ignored it. We have just had a revision a few months back, so not sure how having another one now would work either.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑25 Jul 2023, 16:51I think you will find that as part of your local revision and in line with Network adjustments they will try and move your start time by 30 minutes before next March.

Re: season hours
Don’t know how people are fresh to turn up an hour before their start time. I’m just about ready when I get in after the strains of the previous day.
