Woody what is your post trying to achieve ? Your almost doubting that Royal Mail would make such an offer.

Let's work a little smarter Martin.
Bearing in mind they knew exactly what the reaction to this insult would be what do you think the real reason behind it was?

It certainly wasn't meant to be a serious pay offer.
What do you?

To worry us into eventually accepting a still derisory wage rise like 3% no strings?

Where does it say exactly that the delivery supplement will be removed?

They want us to work sundays and start later, I think the othe other strings are red herrings. But those two items are for me the worst on the list.

It doesn't, at a guess I'd say the supplements they are talking about are all the old ones like phg, the old driving allowances that some people still get despite them ending years ago. I reckon they might want rid of the workplace coach allowance as well because they don't get much for that money, not in my office anyway

Okay I'll play the game.

Royal Mail insults us with a shitty offer.
The union starts a "unite and fight" campaign.
We ballot for industrial action.
At the last minute it's called off either for legal reasons or because RM suddenly want to talk.
Six months go by, enough time to accumulate a lump sum.
RM puts what they actually want on the table.
Union calls it a win.
Martin comes on here and sells it as the deal of the century or the only deal on the table or some other shite.
We end up poorer.
Sound familiar?

What the hell is wrong with this godforsaken company?!

Why do they hate their employees so much, the people who ACTUALLY MAKE THE MONEY for them??

It probably is an opening gambit to try and make the Union meet them less than halfway, but why? Why can't they just sit down like adults and come up with a mutually agreed figure instead of playing silly games? I despair.

We have been starting later and later for years.
If the mail arrives later we start later. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise that people can't start work before the work actually arrives.

They want the lats to join up with core delivery. You happy to start at 2pm and finish at 9pm in December?

Me too.

But compulsory Sundays can get stuffed. And inferior new start conditions, which will eventually creep to 1 years service, then 2 years and so on.

Annualised hours is the real sinister one though. Complete whatever you're told to complete, no matter how long it takes, or it's willful delay.

Shock ;liar at very lowball offer after all that's happened since the last strikes in Nov 2009. "Overtime bandits" will have a real dilemma, because if they strike, meeting the ridiculous 8 hours every month in the six month period might be challenging.

My sentiments too. They’ve made a fortune on the back of us,during a period when half the country (themselves included) were sat at home on furlough, being paid for sitting in the hot tub.

Do the right thing, for once, for gods sake

This was to be expected although I didn't quite think they were going to come up with such a low offer with so many strings. The offer is actually borderline insulting to hard working posties. This is typical Royal Mail though, as mentioned above this offer has been put in place to condition us and CWU to accept lower offer in the end.
Like Woody said, they are buying more time and potential lump sum is growing every week. The carrot we all know Royal Mail will dangle when the time is right. I just hope we will not accept a slightly improved offer possible with no strings but still far below inflation. Removal of delivery supplement, annualised hours, later starts? This is a massive NO whatever the pay offer is.

It does mention removal of allowances and supplements. I simply stated if Delivery was one of them how much it would effect us.

Even as a stand alone offer without strings that is a disgraceful offer and effectively a wage cut. Big thing that sticks out for me though is they seem hellbent on later starts and finishes. If this happens I’ll have to leave the company after 12 years working here, I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old who will need picked up from school for the next decade. I can’t work past 3pm. Surely there will be thousands in my same position? What a f***ing heartless shambles of a company this has become.
