One of our town ones is 718 but they are all back to backs so its like doing 350 odd - he gets done in about 3 hrs 10 minutes but has loads of bags.

Bonus with backs to backs is you normally have 4 doors within 5 - 10 yards of each other.

Why a flat rate payment of Â£2,000 irrespective of how long you're likely to be working for Royal Mail ?
A 20 or 25 year old who might expect to work for the company for 40 years would ( at 3 leaflets a week to 400 addresses ) expect to deliver about 2,400,000 Door To Doors so the Â£2,000 works out at a tenth of a penny per leaflet.
Yet someone with just 40 days to retirement ( again with 400 addresses ) would only deliver about 9,600 Door To Doors so the Â£2,000 compensation works out at about 20p per leaflet.
Why should some be paid a massive 200 times more compensation per leaflet than others ?
And is anyone suggesting this is fair ?

And why should you take a one off payment and then work for nothing giving RM pure profit and zero costs ,think it's called community service, but I ain't guilty and it's only servicing some fat parasites bonus

The deal above is one of many suggestions that RM have given to the CWU re: D2Ds, there is a list which your rep should have in the form of a discussion document. Sadly the gist of all of them is that RM want more of the eggs from their Golden Goose leaving us with probably a little bit of goose s**t. Nothing has been agreed or even proposed yet so its best to hang fire til something concrete comes out of this.

Worse still they might try to get us to pay them for the privilege of delivering them.

Surely it would be better to just take the actual cost of D2D payments to Royal Mail, made over a year, and divide it out amongst ALL of us in Royal Mail, by giving us ALL a payment of around Â£1000. But then, CONSOLIDATE that payment into basic pay, so we get it year on year forever more.

That would be a 'buy-out' of D2D by a Â£1000 rise (or slightly less as not all in RM currently get the D2D money) in basic pay for all of us. Not some here today, gone tomorrow, Â£2000 one-off.

What would Royal Mail get out of that?

Well, if they are so set on increasing the number of D2Ds from 3 per week, then they would save the Â£1000 per year that they would have spent paying us 1.67p per item for those. So if we took 6 items on average in future, then they would 'save' Â£1000 per postie per year, as well.

Let's not sell ourselves short.

Oh, and the money should NOT be pro-rata. Part-timers have to currently do the same work as full-timers on D2D, so they should get the same buy-out. Fair's fair.

(P.S. I do work on delivery...)
