Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
Fair comment - missed out 'the present price cap' ...rambo1 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 17:37Correction. The price cap is not being removed! It is being re evaluated in the usual manner and is expected to rise 40% based on the previous 6 months. Removed would suggest they could charge what they want!bustedflush wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 14:59The NI rise is the least of your worries. The domestic energy price cap also gets removed in April and this could well cost you £15-20 a WEEK which will affect you vastly more than the few quid a week extra in NI. Be afraid. Very afraid.
Assuming the NI and domestic energy prices were the ONLY things to rise and together came to £20 a week (notwithstanding diesel/petrol) then you would need approx £1600 a year gross pay rise to remain as you were about 4 months ago. So for a FT'er that would be around 7% ?? As for the poor sods on 24-32hr contracts....
The world economies are heading for financial f*ckmageddon due to the vast COVID borrowing and money printing going on, and all these added costs are increasing inflationary pressure. I think it's inevitable we will all have to bite the bullet and pay for these aforementioned increases in other ways, i.e. packed lunch instead of Greggs, flask of coffee instead of a Starbucks cheaper phone contracts etc. because we won't be getting these monies refunded in full via pay rises. Hang on to any gold you have.
The horrors of the 1970's (rising fuel prices but mainly 'stagflation') are soon to drop their veil of despair and deprivation over us all.

Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
I thought you were comparing a pay rise with the rise in inflation so it wouldn't be an effective pay cut. So if inflation high, pay rise high but also if inflation low or deflation, then the equivalent would be no pay rise or even pay cut, no?

Enough said, I think I've made my point with your answer.blacov wrote: ↑03 Jan 2022, 08:01What should we be worried about then? They are not going to make our deliveries smaller and most likely won’t change the culture. At least we can hope we will be getting rewarded for it appropriately, especially given current economic situation. These days most of posties go to work purely for money. I doubt many of us have any sense of duty that needs to be done. A good pay rise without eroding our current benefits is what we all need and frankly deserved like never before. This job become very tough over last 2years. It is nothing like it used be. We must get paid well unless they are going to make this job better. The latter is definitely not going to happen.frankieboy wrote: ↑03 Jan 2022, 06:59If your all just worried about getting a pay rise this year then we doomed yet again.![]()

I'm not overly bothered about a pay rise as long as we get the 35hr week promised by the CWU in the 4 pillars agreement

Did it actually say we would go to a 35 hour week this year? If so what was the point of doing these revisions based on 37 when they will all need redoing?worktotime wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 18:15its weird how there where pushing these failed revisions in the busyiest time of the year November based on a 37 hr week ? , but April this year according to the all singing and dancing agreement which by the way the ceo and the cwu are constantly saying we are sticking with it , gives us a 35 hr weekTheTrolleyMan wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 18:01I'm not overly bothered about a pay rise as long as we get the 35hr week promised by the CWU in the 4 pillars agreement, so imo we wont see a 35 hr week due to the workload being unachievable within them hours , unless they lose a day ie saturday , summat is not right as i dont trust any of them ,

according to terry YES , its part of our agreement so lets see what happens , so why wasnt the revisions left till after xmas and based on a 35 hr week ? , so watch this space as they will be banging the drum again and asking members to support them , but good luck with that one .citypostie wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 18:39Did it actually say we would go to a 35 hour week this year? If we got to a 35 hour week surely a 4 day week is the way to go? We might actually be able to do the rounds with the longer days!worktotime wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 19:02according to terry YES , its part of our agreement so lets see what happens , so why wasnt the revisions left till after xmas and based on a 35 hr week ? , so watch this space as they will be banging the drum again and asking members to support them , but good luck with that one .citypostie wrote: ↑05 Jan 2022, 18:39Did it actually say we would go to a 35 hour week this year?
