Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
3% increase which Terry will sell to the members (by ranting at them in a live video while hiding from the virus under his bed) because the hour off the working week makes it worth more. He will also remind everyone that there is no 70 hour weekly cap so you can do loads of overtime and then take advantage of the world-beating average holiday pay deal he negotiated. With all the money you get he will announce plans for members to lease vans through MyBundle and then be paid 1p per mile to use them at Christmas. He won't have read the small print which states overtime is capped at 7hr 59 mins in March and July.
There will be a requirement to work 5 days out of 7, so including Sundays, and Terry will tell us how it is an amazing deal, but please don't knock on his door on a Sunday because he has a lie in until 3pm. This will be announced in about September meaning 90% of members will be more interested in getting the back pay than they are in reading what the offer involves.

Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
The union and 'Sir' Terry will do their usual rubbish below inflation pay deal with so many strings attached it could sink the Titanic again.
RM cannot do the 'we have no money/made no profit excuse again but our pathetic union will bend over backwords to help their bosses...RM shaft us once again.

Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
Sunday working (Saturday night for MC night shifts and MPUs) will almost certainly be one of RM's demands.
Don't think it'll be too many years before everyone being able to drive is a demand. At the rate that staff are leaving, the % who can't drive must be dropping fairly fast. Eventually it'll drop below a threshold, at which point RM will probably turn around and insist on everyone being able to drive

Either that or they will try and force them to work on the machines instead
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Long term you've got better job security in deliveries. Over time just about all our jobs in MCs and probably in RDCs will get automated out of existanceyubin282 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 21:15Transfer to mail centre or VR.... sounds good either way.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 19:32Sunday working (Saturday night for MC night shifts and MPUs) will almost certainly be one of RM's demands.

Don't go tempting fate FB! So many idiots just look at the £200 back pay and sign their T&Cs away. Happens every time.fb1969 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2022, 18:353% increase which Terry will sell to the members (by ranting at them in a live video while hiding from the virus under his bed) because the hour off the working week makes it worth more. Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
What should we be worried about then? They are not going to make our deliveries smaller and most likely won’t change the culture. At least we can hope we will be getting rewarded for it appropriately, especially given current economic situation. These days most of posties go to work purely for money. I doubt many of us have any sense of duty that needs to be done. A good pay rise without eroding our current benefits is what we all need and frankly deserved like never before. This job become very tough over last 2years. It is nothing like it used be. We must get paid well unless they are going to make this job better. The latter is definitely not going to happen.frankieboy wrote: ↑03 Jan 2022, 06:59If your all just worried about getting a pay rise this year then we doomed yet again.![]()

Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
The company plays a very clever game with the union which both they and a large number of the workforce fall for every time. Pay increase due April but negotiations don't start until weeks/months after. Union keeps going for increased pay, company accepts, BUT, the chipping away of terms and conditions continues in return for increased pay. Pay increase agreed - back pay announced - large numbers just see £ signs so it gets voted in. Then when said increase and back pay are paid, company starts working on what it wants back in return and that's what the large numbers can't then accept.
They're called "negotiations" for a reason......each side GIVES, and each side TAKES.

us has mashed potatoes for brains so we are screwed. Royal Mail see Terry Bullshitter coming every time and must piss themselves laughing at his ineptitude after leaving the negotiating room.

Re: Pay rise 2022 prospects
What really pxxsses me off is the pay rise never gets paid until October thereby saving a lot of money by not having to pay the people who have worked and earned the extra rate from April, only to retire or leave the business before it gets paid. Scandalous practice if you ask me. Unless when you come to leave the business, you don't leave until after the backpay is paid and before 1st April the following yr, you don't reap the full benefits and how many people does that include? A lot. Why can't we negotiate a pay rise BEFORE the date it applies so everyone benefits from day one until they leave?
