I understand you can. But the anti-union brigade will twist your legitimate intelligent concerns, add a little bit of their own prejudice to fan the flames and confuse the situation.
It must be hard enough being a rep and trying to explain the agreement without having to contend with a game of Chinese whispers that ends with "they took cash bungs".

Why issue a pay cut to some and a pay rise to others even though some are doing more work.
So what you actually want is a payment per item you deliver, so that a postman who delivers 150kg of mail should recieve twice as much as a postie who delivers 75kg, even if they both work 40hrs/week?
If this is not the case then why the hell do we recieve £20.60p a week at all?
Why indeed. The logic is if D2D goes into workload you lose the payment but the CWU negotiated the payment as well. Well done CWU.
Basically Royal Mail told CWU it was all going to happen anyway with or without them and the union shat themselves. Either this or they were bribed with a cash bung.

Are you still there fishtank. This is the problem with the anti-agreement brigade. They climb in to bed with people who talk shite like this.
Make the minutes of the negotiations public so we can see for ourselves excactly what went on and exactly what was said.

Forgot that bit eh?

The supplemement could have been delivery duties only and called a allowance and paid in reconition of the more vigorous demands of outdoor work.

Facts are that some members will see less money on their payslips even after taking into account 52 weeks payment and the 2% payrise and wont break even untill 2012 payrise.

NOw HQ fully accept that as the truth but Bob's write up seems almost to be mocking the concerns of those in the aforementioned group. It is badly written, CWU HQ should be in bridge maintenance mode not making the bridge weaker.

The old system DTD not in workload paid according to how many delivered was fine as a concept.

DTD into workload means same payment, that I can accept, but it could have been done better and lessons need to be learnt for any future pay restructuring.

No I didn't forget it. I simply stopped reading when you started making ridiculous unfounded allegations. (Not to mention libellous or defamotory or whatever word they would use in a court because there are laws against that sort of thing)
So most people had difficulty bothering to read the 80 page agreement and you think they should have printed every single word that was said during several months of negotiations?
Another smart idea.
Do you ever actually bother to think before you start typing?

I left the Labour party not to achieve anything, simply because i thought it was the right thing to do.
The difference is you can leave the Labour Party and still vote for them or vote for another party.
if you leave the CWU ou weaken the only organisation that represents the posties in the workplace and
you lose your right to vote on the changes that affect your daily working conditions.

I can understand you disillusionment with the Labour Party. In my youth I flirted with the Young Socialists but I quickly realised that they didn't believe in the same things as me. So after a brief sejourn among the green anarchists I was forced to form the Green Titoists as it was the only grouping that seriously supported the aims and ideals of the eco=communist movement.
If you like I'll send you an application form. I'll let you be the treasurer.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

andy2007 wrote:Seriously Pickaname. You should go for it. You're certainly not afraid to speak up against what you believe is wrong. And that is an important part of being a Rep. Yes, the deal is crap. And yes, you'd be forced to work within it. But if you don't have a Rep, your Managers will be free to implement whatever interpritation they can come up with, to make it work best for them. It's up to the Reps, and the rest of us (providing support for the Reps), to stop it happening. The agreement as it stands, is bad. But if they're left to their own devices, the Managers can, and probably will, make it even worse! :hmmmm
Maybe I will but I'll be the first union rep not to be in the union...
There's nothing stopping you re-joining. That was my point: Re-join and go for the Rep's position. Then you'll be in a position to properly represent your collegues.

Obviously, we're stuck with this daft agreement. But as others have already proved. It's possible to minimise the damage, if you have Reps willing to use it to fight for what's best for their members. :hmmmm

Now some don't believe that it's possible to change from within. But think about it for a minute, please: The reason that we're stuck with the current leadership, is because there's no-one to stand against them. So if we get people becoming local Reps, and then working their way up, as they prove themselves to the members at each level. Then we'll eventually get people who can stand against them. Because at the moment, they've little to loose. It's like one Political Party running a Country, with no organised opposition Party. They would be virtually unaccountable. :hmmmm

Don't you realise, that it's better to work towards greater accountability to the Grass Roots, than quit, and hope for the best? :hmmmm

lessons need to be learned and it could have been done much better
ffs they had months with strike backing behind them to sort it out
if they had kept workforce and posties who carry the shite informed the lessons would have been learned no prob
unions head officials have been got at simple
they should not have had to put on a ludicrous road show to convince us of their deceit and false hopes
their agreement should have stood on its own if good enough
so much blackmail about ft work etc no ones getting made ft re how your office fits in del spec
its all one almighty f-up
