Perhaps because London was its own separate union before merging with the letter carriers and then the UPW , or because London is a cit. Or whether we have had an London District Council we do seem to have stuck together.
The above statement speaks volume... It is what some of us have been intimating about some of the ways things work in favour of London. It is not about being bitter but just to say it is not that easy to achieve what London achieves and the last thing people want to hear is that - it is their fault...

Some of these threads are not just about the Agreement but people want to understand what is going on and what might happen in future... We can all concede that the vote will be a 'Yes' and a lot of us have our views now and are not going to be swayed one way or the other - so we can knock the campaigning!

Some of the senior reps might perhaps want to use the knowledge and expertise to help people in distress and provide information instead of getting into circular arguments.

We have seen for geographical reasons more delivery mergers then anywhere else. In fact Royal Mail even sold 6 delivery offices in West London to lease as site in NW10 the problem for them now is that they now have 90 minutes travelling time on each duty which obviously limits productivity.
This is also a good answer to why some of the units are somewhat lower productivity. Although, the answer has come in a different topic to the one where the original question was asked.

I accept the above is a negative (travelling time) for the posties involved but it also contributes to that unity that is in abundance in London... Bigger offices makes it easy to mobilise, bigger offices can have 2 or more reps which also helps, some of the offices have Processing and Delivery in the same office.

Now compare all these to some delivery offices dotted all over Scotland or Yorkshire or Tyneside or other places with some many small towns and cities. Some offices are so small that some have more part-timers than full-timers and so on. Some are simply outposts with hardly any affiliates...

Anyways, I do not think Divisional reps will be allowed to move around but it should not stop them video conferencing from time to time to share best practices.

Moreover, perhaps there could another layer on top that is paid for by the CWU to oversee all the activities of the Top Reps - something like an Overseer/Enforcer/Facilitator/Coordinator/???

Not really. The EP/bsi thing relates to indoor performance. The travelling time is a completely separate issue.

Well, lets give the Londoners that one. It could be psychological or a de-motivator. 90 minutes travel and then jumping into indoor work with enthusiasm is asking a lot.

But like I said, at least it is an answer not a question not a lecture on people's misunderstanding of this and that.

* I must also confess that I do not fully understand the EP figures. Furthermore, are they actually accurately measured (and to the same standards all over) and do they show an accurate reflection of productivity?

The indoor work is done first.
I am guessing the 90 minutes travelling is 45 minutes to get to the duty and 45 to get back at the end of the duty.
The indoor work gets done before that.

Yes, reading it again. It did say to the duty... Well!

You are a hard one to please... But some will also have a bit of travelling to work if they live on the other side of West London... I know they have the tube and more importantly, they get paid...

They are special because 'they are worth it'.

I wonder whether London as a branch will be allowed to walk out without jeopardising the 'legally binding' protection?

Clash you are correct the site is in Norh West 10 and the offices have to travel to the postcodes such as paddington notting hill and sheppards bush along the busy A40 route. Each walk has 45 mind out and 45 mins back which obviously limits both the opportunity to either be more productive under the roof or have a longer span. On an average 8 hour day with a 40 minute meal relief the work time is then reduced to just 5:50 work hours which includes ips , prep and delivery.
