Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
Thank you for the welcome.
I'm actually back with a question. Is there some place where we can make an official complaint with Royal Mail about these situations? Because as several people already mentioned here, GLS in Portugal doesn't seem to answer the phone, (which is probably smart, as they would end up with bleeding eardrums
) and god help me, I've got another package with them that is in the UK warehouse for 5 week days already with no further movement.
Thanks in advance.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
Hi Idrilain,
I am based in the U.K., and I sell to customers around the world via my website. I have two complaints lodged and one parcel returned by GLS becasue they could not be bothered to route the parcel correctly to Australia. This parcel went to Austria instead of Australia I think - as all details were in German only on the GLS sticker, and returned back to us. I dont think it ever reached Australia.
The two complaints I have in hand are for one parcel awaiting receipt in Portugal, sent from U.K. on 29th May, which until I chased was still in Germany about three days ago, and now saying that it is with GLS in Portugal - RJ868180585GB, but Royal Mail will not do anything about it for at least 20 days after it is scheduled to be delivered.
The second parcel was supposedly signed for in Slovakia, but my customer states that he has not received it, so I guess GLS has probably obtained some randum signature from a person on the street!! - RJ868180276GB. I am waiting for Royal Mail to make its inquiries and provide me with proof of delivery from GLS.
My customers and I pay for a premium service, but this is not what we expect. I have requested for a clear response from a senior manager at Royal Mail, but not sure if I will get anything useful.
In our case, if we fail to get any clear educated cumfort response from Royal Mail by end of this week, we will have to stop using this service, wherever GLS in involved in the link. Our reputation is now at risk because of their poor service.

Hi Idrilain,
Here is the link where you lodge your complaint:
http://www.royalmail.com/customer-servi ... delay-form" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I hope that the moderator will not remove this link.
I hope and guess that if enough people lodge their complaints that may be they will decide to improve their service.

And for the record,Royal Mail own GLS.
Do you have any idea about when the GLS service came into being with Royal Mail Internatinal Signed For service?...and for which destinations this service is being used?....any information you can provide will be very much appreciated.
As a seller, I have have to think about my reputation now. I have checked many consignments sent since the 15th of May to many internatinal destinations, and found serious delays or no update in delivery status for many of the consignments we have shipped.
By the way, some of the Smilies icons on the right hand side relating to politicians are not appropriate, using foul language. Perhaps someone could and should look into this.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
Hi! Thanks for all the speedy replies. You guys should work for GLS, maybe it would work better.
Also, thanks for the link to make the complaint, I did it already, although I'm not expecting much. What really drives me crazy is that Royal Mail says on its site that signed for mail should take about 3 week days to be delivered to Portugal and 6 week days after the seller sent me the package it is still in Spain!!!
I totally get that it's not the seller's fault, and since I bought the item on ebay, I'm not going to give negative feedback for something that is not their fault, but this is insane. I only buy stuff from the Uk because stuff from outside of Europe usually gets taxed by Customs. Now there's this. It's really a lousy situation.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
I have posted the Link to this site on 2 Expat sites to do with Portugal on which rather long threads are running over this problem to do with GLS
Every body it seems is outraged by the complete lack off interest taken by RM in the complaints being made in Europe over GLS
Just in the last month I had a very important Registered Letter sent from a UK Gov Office returned to UK marked " Address Unknown"
I complained the RM only to receive a generic reply which stated "Only the sender has the right to complain"
Has any body got any ideas how we the "unsatisfied recipients" can get our voice heard

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
Hi,
We usually prefered to buy from the Ebay Uk and one of the reasons was because packages most of times took 3-4 days to arrive by CTT, our national post. It was quick and safe!
Recently, we were wondering why last packages were taking so long to arrive to us, more than 15 days, but now we know it: GLS! Terrible service and difficult to be trusted!!
So till the momment things get back to the wonderfull service we had in the past we decided that we will never buy anything more from the UK.
Sorry! Game over!

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
I guys i have seen this post yesterday because i have a shipment coming from the UK to Portugal and it was posted in the 28th of September and the last information that i have receive is that it is in transit from Germany to Portugal but I don't know how is possible wait so long for a shipment from the UK
. I have made another shipment in the same day but from China and I have receive it today from the CTT. That means that CTT is better than GLS. The last time that i have used GLS it was just a shipment from Portugal To Portugal and I have received it in the next day so I don't know what is the all problem.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
just registered to complain about this s**t.
I buy and sell loads of items on ebay every month. I receive and send many packages.
I've to say that GLS is the worst company in the entire world and I really don't understand how it still exists with such an illegal behaviour that violates all the basic consumer laws.
I stopped buying things from UK because of it.
I never had a single successful delivery from GLS. Problems ranging from returns, lost, delays, etc etc.
I've contacted several times royal mail to solve these problems. They never helped. Thanks for nothing. Really nice to hire a carrier that doesn't give a dam about the service.
The problem resides in the tracking system. If at least the tracking system had the information to what carrier the package had been passed to it would be easy to solve many problems. But to have that information I've to spend hours on the phone calling royal mail directly and waiting a lot for such a simple information. One month I've spent over 100€ once just for calling royal mail trying to track my packages.
CTT always worked for me. I only had very minor problems with them. things like 1 day delay or such. nothing to do with GLS nightmare. I hope all GLS administration dies.
I'm not the only one complaining. Anyone that deals with GLS will have problems.
Royal Mail reputation went down the drain. Keep it going and it will go out of international mailing business.
I've tried about 10 different international carriers. Some I didn't had any problems, some I had minor problems. Very rarely serious problems happened. Only GLS is always a failure. It's really a piece of s**t.
And don't try to give the stupid excuse that royal mail doesn't have nothing to do. YES it does. they pass the packages to GLS. It's all royal mail fault. keep the good work costumers as you see are really happy.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
Well your post was pointless - we are NOT Royal Mail, this is a workers/customers forum for passing on advice. If you had asked for advice I could have pointed out a site that does show which carrier the item was passed on to but thats moot now if you are not going to use Royal Mail again.__-_-_-__ wrote:just registered to complain about this s**t..
At bottom of every page on this site wrote:We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.

Re: GLS delivering Royal Mail packages to Portugal
First of all, please don't use automatic translation. It just makes you look silly because it's just a bunch of random words that don't make any sense together.
Second, how the hell aren't you affiliated with royal mail if most members are royal mail workers? that sounds like an huge affiliation to me.
Third, in all my contacts to royal mail and despite my complains they always failed to point me out that website that you say where I can see to which courier the package has been passed to. Please tell me what site is that.
Yes, I won't use royal mail ever again. But unfortunately sometimes there are some very specific items that I need to buy and can't find elsewhere besides UK. I always tell the seller not to send using royal mail but sometimes they forget about it and send it anyway. This is really the last resort. I avoid this at all times except when I really don't have any another solution. I even prefer to buy from far away like Hong Kong than from UK because I know I'm going to receive all packages from Hong Kong, or really anywhere else where GLS isn't involved.
Just today I just got the confirmation that a package was again "lost" by GLS. In the delivery address there's always somewhere there. It's a business and it's open 24/7. I'm 200% sure they didn't even appeared at the door. I wasn't contacted by any means. How is this possible? How can this situation continue?
What is that amazing website that you talk about that give us more information than the royal mail one?
