If you have problems delivering Specials by 1pm flag it up to a Manager, then its their problem...usually taken out by a driver thou :wave :wave

should have the yellow SG sticker.Anything else can't fail on a Saturday because the system won't let it.
How does 'the system' know if it has a yellow sticker on it?

On a Saturday we wouldn't find a manager within 30 miles of my office, we are left to our own devices!!! If you have a problem, need to to book O/T or have to cut-off it is your decision so come Monday morning O/T will be denied as the manager won't believe it was busy on Saturday and if you bring the mail back....wilful delay!! That's why a saturday special can be a pain in the A! If you break off to get it delivered, could easily be 10 miles there and 10 miles back, I can't empty the mail boxes as I'm too early so have to come back later. Monday to Friday I can argue the toss with a manager but Saturday....as I said sort it out yourself!! :d'oh!
thanks

I've had it before where someone has ordered something for Monday delivery (normal Special) and because they were out Sat I had to leave a form left for them to actually come and collect it on the Mon. Not happy.

Our DOM is saying the same thing. He is moaning that non SG that are delivered after 1pm are still going down as failures. It seems to me that it's to do with how the information is taken out that is the problem. Clearly nobody has written anything into the software to change things on a Saturday, the software just looks for Specials - times then calculates if it's on time or over time and allocates accordingly without actually looking at the day and the type of Special. Shoddy programming. Surprised? I'm not. It's Royal Mail.

It's not difficult to incorporate things into the bar code so that the system can differentiate between SD and SG. The software can also be programmed to take into account days of the week and allocate successes or failures based on whatever information RM need it to. That said these types of things have to be explained and planned in advance to any software that is being created and implemented. Depending on how the coding is put together it could be a real ordeal to try to fit these in retrospectively.

My feeling is someone neglected to consider all of the facts before informing the software developers of our needs.

A rumour that I heard is that you scan in the special early on as being not delivered and then when you get to the actual address you just scan it in again............I don't know how it would work but I did hear others talk about it :whistle
