Re: Saturday special delivery?
If you have problems delivering Specials by 1pm flag it up to a Manager, then its their problem...usually taken out by a driver thou

On a Saturday we wouldn't find a manager within 30 miles of my office, we are left to our own devices!!!Glenno wrote:If you have problems delivering Specials by 1pm flag it up to a Manager, then its their problem...usually taken out by a driver thou![]()

I've had it before where someone has ordered something for Monday delivery (normal Special) and because they were out Sat I had to leave a form left for them to actually come and collect it on the Mon. Not happy.

Our DOM is saying the same thing. He is moaning that non SG that are delivered after 1pm are still going down as failures. It seems to me that it's to do with how the information is taken out that is the problem. Clearly nobody has written anything into the software to change things on a Saturday, the software just looks for Specials - times then calculates if it's on time or over time and allocates accordingly without actually looking at the day and the type of Special. Shoddy programming. Surprised? I'm not. It's Royal Mail.canolman wrote:Thanks Fish, that's what I thought. I delivered a special at around 1.30pm on Saturday and have been told that it was a failure because it missed the deadline....I didn't realise there was a deadline?

Re: Saturday special delivery?
It's not difficult to incorporate things into the bar code so that the system can differentiate between SD and SG. The software can also be programmed to take into account days of the week and allocate successes or failures based on whatever information RM need it to. That said these types of things have to be explained and planned in advance to any software that is being created and implemented. Depending on how the coding is put together it could be a real ordeal to try to fit these in retrospectively.Indy wrote:How does 'the system' know if it has a yellow sticker on it?fishtank wrote:should have the yellow SG sticker.Anything else can't fail on a Saturday because the system won't let it.POSTMAN wrote:The reg on a sat is a bit of a mystery, anyone know why they are not guaranteed.
My feeling is someone neglected to consider all of the facts before informing the software developers of our needs.

Re: Saturday special delivery?
A rumour that I heard is that you scan in the special early on as being not delivered and then when you get to the actual address you just scan it in again............I don't know how it would work but I did hear others talk about itcanolman wrote:There is nowhere to hide with a PDA Jockjockstrapp wrote:How are special deliveries that are delivered after 1pm recorded as a failure?????????????????????? nobody (manager/phg) knows what time it was delivered as the time is never written on the card.![]()
