WTL session today: 1) Harry Potter..yawn!!!!! 2) Dum thanked strikers for behaving on picket line ( patronising tw*t, as if we give a sh*t what he thinks) 3) not allowed to blank the strike breakers...don't hold your breath too long on that one, dumb(not a spelling error).4) mentioned how much bonus he received, ( after we asked) £1,500. Obviously not a very good Dom, according to a notice doing the rounds, doms in line for £3,000-£4,000....
oops, methinks he must have dropped a b****ck!

Think about it seriously. How can you PROVE that someone harrassed someone else by not talking to them ? I'd like to see a test case... Getting someone who overhears a racist, sexist or threatening remark to act as a witness is one thing, but just how ridiculous a concept is asking someone to testify that they heard somebody not saying anything
If any manager warns about this in my next WTLL session, I'd have to say something like
So, when I sign in tomorrow, you'll have no problem with me taking about 20 minutes to seek out each and every one of my 79 colleagues and saying 'hello'? Because, as I see it, that is the only way I can see of avoiding any misunderstandings building up about me supposedly ignoring someone and thus sparking an allegation of harrassment. Of course, if every one of us has to do the same thing, for the very same reason, that's 26 hours of productivity lost. You'd best build-in another three full-time duties to your budget to cover the hours, or put me down for a bit of docket this weekend, cause money's a bit tight at the moment. Can't think why ....

Harrassment is unwanted attention. if you choose not to talk to a scab then you're not paying them any attention, are you? Ergo it's not harrassment.iow1 wrote:our rep had to make a rare appearance at wtl today. screw has said we can not talk about the strikes at all in our office!!! not past or present. if he hears about bitching or if we choose not to talk to the strike breakers then it will be harrasment and we will be taken down the conduct code and sacked.edwarddaffin wrote:Did any of the unions reps on this site feel intimidated by their manager in this mornings WTL&L session?

Being a rep in the current climate can be a pain. Banned from briefing on site etc. My DUM is looking for any excuse to conduct me. What reps have to do is play it by the book and wait for the golden opportunity where the DUM/LM breach RM standards. Believe me it will happen sometime.
To brief the members I've got to do newsletters for them all. It's the only way.
Roll on the next strike
