Is anyone qualified to rule on health and safety involved in these talks?

The CWU and Royal Mail can agree what they like but if 4-5 hour walks are deemed unsafe (which I believe they should be) then we won't be doing them.

Is sound like a bad idea.

Due to making everyone too tired after work to do other things ie Salsa Dancing and studying for me.

What happens if we were hammered on Saturday and it would make our life more difficult ie family outing, football supporting, sport events

Lot more injuries due to increased workload and leave a bit of chaos if there are lot of injuries in similar timeframe. Cost more money on sick leaves and paperwork and paying people to leave and ATOS advices.

Royal Mail doesn't think carefully about it.

Postcomm rules

Why does my mail arrive later than it used to? In 2004, Royal Mail decided to reduce the number of daily deliveries to all homes and businesses in the UK from two to one, in order to cut costs and improve efficiency. Mail in urban areas should now be delivered by 2pm, and in rural areas by 3pm. Precise times depend on how the postman’s delivery round is set out, which is an operational issue for Royal Mail.

Surely then its actually ILLEGAL to be delivering letters on a town walk AFTER 2pm???

the answers in the quote, it says should not must, therefore unfortuantely not against the USO, if it is happening regularly the general public really should start to complain if they are not happy about it, if they dont postcomm is not going to be bothered about a load of pissed off posties having to work later if the general public are not concerned about getting their mail later in the day,

now dont forget, we are also "the general public" as well as being posties, so maybe we should all complain as private individuals, wonder what would happen then :whistle

That's why RM have asked to put back the times to 3pm for towns and 4pm for rurals.Later starts and later finishes.
But it is not illegal.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Not according to Postcomm they havent. I shall email them again as this was 12 months ago,

Thank you for your email.

Postcomm does not regulate Royal Mail's collection and delivery times. We do not have the remit, under Royal Mail's licence, to specify collection and delivery times. Royal Mail aims to complete deliveries by 2pm in urban areas and by 3pm in rural areas. We are not aware, and have not been informed, of any changes to this.

What the fck is going on. Why are u people even discussing these issues with these managers who are working totally outside of the talks. Wait until the CWU put the propositions to us and then we can either agree and get on with the job, or more than is likely tell them to go and get minced, and fight to protect decent standards of employment. We have nothing to lose. If we all keep listening to these mutton head managers, some, not all will start believing that its a done deal. Stop listening to them and start believing in the rights for fair pay and conditions of employment.

Great if this becomes reality i cant wait NOOOTTTTT.

Theres the possabilty of splitting it into 2 deliveries aswell depending on your local agreement as ive allways said if this becomes reality im leaving the CWU and at present im a great follower of the CWU and will be sad to leave but if this is the best they can do for me then forget it.

But lets just see what comes out of the talks nothink is written in stone yet

You forgot to mention the limit being lifted on d2ds say bye-bye to 3 more like 5-6

Can anyone please tell me how the feck is this modernisation
the over 50's in our office are more then worried about the length the walk's will now be. We tried to get a hold of someone from the CWU but their phone went onto voice mail, as of yet we have not heard a word from them.
Late im in my late 30s and im more than concerned at longer del spans i really do feel sorry for the older brigade at this prospect. Lets hope it doesnt happen

Check previous posts by dingo who apparently is close to the talks. Longer spans will be up for local agreements. No longer a limit of 3.5 hrs facilitated by shared vans more HCTs etc. How will they get us to vote this in..........Remember those colleague shares that we were supposed to be getting next year. I reckon (personal opinon) they will offer us a one off payment of £5,000 (pro rata for PTs - sorry guys) to sign away our T&Cs and welcome in a new era of deliveries no one over 30 need apply.

If it happens then i'm out.
I really can not do it.Its not the bloody SAS.
I'll either have to go to a mail centre or apply at the local tesco.
5 hours will become 5 and a half and i have no social life now due to being constantly knackered.
