Obviously there are going to be teething problems when this is first introduced. Sorting by hand is a pointless waste of time. These machines should have been introduced years ago.DirtyHarry wrote:Brilliant!

And when Walk Sequencing hits what will walking posties be doing with it - manually sorting it into the RM2000 framepost2012 wrote:Obviously there are going to be teething problems when this is first introduced. Re: Walk Sequencing Disaster
They have been using walksorting software up the road from pompey for 2years plus on lsm's no probs,so tman knows what he's talking about, and they have css working there as well. From what you have posted its obvious you have little or no understanding of the mech. The tag and route codes on the mail are put there by IMPS or MTT or CBC direct from the customer,so if there is a heavy reject/missort rate its either because the inward sort plans arent right, human error or just the fact that its a new concept to most lsm operators at PO and is bedding in!Game back on!(cant wait for a reply)Tman wrote:Unless PO's LSMs run in some sort of parallel universe, or POMC is somehow unique in it's operation, then it's rather more than just opinion.Seriously though...you have no idea. I have accurate reports from people who work there - yes managers too! You have? Nothing but your opinions...
Game over.
Equally your "accurate reports" sound anything but, so hardly -
Apparently this is the first week of PO's stab at this, so it'll take a while to get right."Game over".
{Unless they give up and wait for the Solystic machines, that is}
same as it ever was...

Re: Walk Sequencing Disaster
I dont claim to have any knowledge of mech. Never have done. But i do claim to have knowledge of how walk sequencing has disrupted deliveries and cost RM loads of money in Portsmouth.
Whether its the machines or humans that are the problem is irrelevant. The fact remains that since they were introduced things have gone awry. You can argue, predict and assume all you want, but at the end of the day the reality on the ground is that it isnt working. Thats is why i heard reports the trials ended yesterday. Worse than the worst case scenario were the words used i do believe.
You can keep this thread going if you like. The answer will always be the same.

Not in my book, sunshine. Sorting by hand means people in work, much more important than machinery introduced to drive down costs.post2012 wrote:Obviously there are going to be teething problems when this is first introduced. Re: Walk Sequencing Disaster
As i said at the beginning of my thread this stuff has been working in my MC for over 2 years without any problems, therefore it works, simple really,it makes no odds to me if it works at PO or not, just telling you its not the equipment,as that is used elsewhere ok.pickaname wrote:I dont claim to have any knowledge of mech. pickaname, that is a no no,if you can't at least debate properly regardless of the issue then please move on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

pickaname"]I dont claim to have any knowledge of mech. Never have done.
Uh
But you said-Whether its the machines or humans that are the problem is irrelevant.
Then went on say about ground floor flats and 1s and ls and how the machine couldn't differentiate.THESE MACHINES DO NOT WORK. I REPEAT - THESE MACHINES DO NOT WORK
That doesn't say it's irrelevant, that's you saying it's a machine fault.
So, what's the latest from the canteen tech experts? Has the trial started again yet?

The majority of us are as strong as we ever were, there's a few flakey people but they're holding their nerve, and as for the serial scabbers, firing squad's the only cure for 'em!itllnottouchyou wrote: well said Dirty Harry, how you s boys and girls holding out down there?
Considering Royal Mail's "posties are overpaid and underworked" mantra, we really don't have any alternative but to keep striking.
