I may be a bit dense here but does that mean part timers will get more money and work the same number of hours and full timers will get more money and work fewer hours or am I missing something here? So as a part timer I could work fewer hours but still get the same amount of pay but won't have the choice - that doesn't seem right somehow - many people choose to work fewer hours and that would be negated somewhat if full timers worked less hours and consequently did less work for more money, whereas a part timer would do the same work for more money.

Anyone willing to explain this to a poor old timer with limited brain power these days?
Basically, it means that if we fail to get the pay rise we're asking for, but DO get the shorter working week. Then FT Posties will get exactly the same amount of money. But work less hours. PT Posties will work exactly the same number of hours. But get paid more for doing so.

If we get the pay rise as well. You'll still get a slightly bigger raise, than the FT Posties, for the same reason. :hmmmm
No they just raise the hourly wage rate for everyone to match the current 40 hours rate if doing 35 hours.

This means 40 hours FT get no pay raise but a work 5 hours less
PTimers moving to 35 hours would get a pay rise and extra 5 hours work
PTimers staying on their current contract get an hourly increase.

However off the top of my head this would be between a 12.5% and 14% rise and I can't see RM going for it unless we accept a pay freeze for a number of years to compensate - still no harm in asking is there.

Overtime.

Post by andy2007 »

That depends on whether you're doing Pressure, or Scheduled Attendance.

Pressure Overtime is (supposedly) voluntary.

Scheduled Attendance, is overtime you've signed a separate Contract, to do. I know, there are some of you, who get SA rate for your Overtime, without signing a Contract (particularly at Christmas). But unless you're covering someone elses SA. You're not supposed to be paid the SA rate.

For example: You might have an SA Contract, to do SAWN, at the weekends. If you fail to turn up, you end up in the Manager's Office, facing a complete Overtime Ban. The length of which varies, depending on whether it's an isolated incident, or you've done it before. That's why you get more money for SA. You have to do it, or make other arrangements (e.g. book leave, ask someone to cover it, etc.). It's a long term commitment.

Oh dear Rumpole ,methinks you have been grievously misdirected. Return to Chambers forthwith and enquire directly in respect of the case of Deller v's RM. I'm sure the presiding official ,the honorable judge Ash would be delighted to to complete his legal education under the innovate instruction of your learned Dom,and HR and ACAS :left:
