Re: Taking tracked back
All due mail will be worked to the duties. The algorithm knows which dp's have an item and should release all items for that dp. There is not a time value in the prep plan for sorting through mail that is not due. If it is not the due day the mail should remain in the IPS unless it's been seg'd to the due mail ips fitting. Any non-due mail should not be sent to the POD's from the IPS.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑Yesterday, 11:00I thought you were supposed to go through the non 1c and if you had a 1c or a parcel in the light side for an address then you can deliver it, think they they termed it coincidental items.TopperGas wrote: ↑Yesterday, 09:43So on a 1c day you visit a property with just 1c mail, then the following day you visit it again with just the 2c mail you had not prepped the previous day.SMS1969 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2026, 18:29Especially with treble mail Monday and Tuesday then double the rest of the week. It puts you on the back foot straight away.
But I think sms meant they're not allowed to put it all in the day it arrives giving them a head start on tomorrow's work which as trams pointed out is correct as it's the next days work so shouldn't be done.
It's different for the non-pod singletons. They will receive all the IPS and seg the due mail from the IPS at the walk fitting and place the non due mail in a mech box under the fitting.
The reason the mail that is not due delivery should not be prepped is because the fittings are supposed to be clear so that you can declare clear. If the mail is worked into the fitting you cannot declare a clear frame.

Re: Taking tracked back
On the due day the algorithm will release all mail if there is an item due delivery. Obviously the manually sorted items may not get captured but there is no time value in the prep plan for sorting through the non due mail to capture items that could be delivered. At some point in the future there will be no manually sorted items but until then what you describe is a possibility. Until then if you can remember every item due delivery and have the time indoors to capture every item for that dp why not capture it?TopperGas wrote: ↑Yesterday, 09:43So on a 1c day you visit a property with just 1c mail, then the following day you visit it again with just the 2c mail you had not prepped the previous day.SMS1969 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2026, 18:29Especially with treble mail Monday and Tuesday then double the rest of the week. Re: Taking tracked back
It's actually insane that letters are so abundant in a world where everything went digital 20+ years ago.
I know it's part of our job to deliver letters.... but would anyone actually care if there was no letters service. I think people would get over it pretty quickly. It's not essential. If the government and businesses were forced to go digital they'd get on with it.
I don't know why in the UK everyone's dragging their heels with the letters service. It should have died long ago. Delivering mostly junk mail everyday is madness.

Re: Taking tracked back
Very soon data from flat sorting machines and packet sorting machines (I'm assuming that also includes the ones in the super hubs) will feed into the DTS algorithm so any DPs with a packet sorted by a machine or flat sorted by a machine will have all the mail released for that DP. I'd imagine it'll only be a matter of time before the manual packet scanning data from MCs also feeds into the algorithm. The algorithm also has to factor in when an item will be due for delivery based on the product used.tramssirhc wrote: ↑Yesterday, 15:58On the due day the algorithm will release all mail if there is an item due delivery. It's doesn't matter what mail is being released if only 1c on the "light" days is being prepped and so delivered?

I've noticed that the DTS is kicking out when tracked items are due so it must be working already?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 17:21Very soon data from flat sorting machines and packet sorting machines (I'm assuming that also includes the ones in the super hubs) will feed into the DTS algorithm so any DPs with a packet sorted by a machine or flat sorted by a machine will have all the mail released for that DP. Do you know what proportion of flats are machine sorted? I thought they were mainly sorted manually?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 17:21

Re: Taking tracked back
It doesn't matter if coincidental mail is getting sent, it's getting left in boxes as that's the only way to even get close to completing on this piece of s**t system.
As for IPS, that needs fully clearing because the sorters put the letters in one of the 2 duty numbers so you have to go through them and make sure the walk that is getting done gets all the mail taken.

Re: Taking tracked back
Also, most of our flats come through in "buddy trays" - all the flats for two walks are all mixed up together. What is the logic behind that? Why isn't it sorted down to individual walk level before it gets to a delivery office? So much time is wasted sorting through all that to find the stuff that needs to go today and what can be left for tomorrow, depending on which of the walks is having a blue or yellow day.

Re: Taking tracked back
About a month in to DM26 and NOBODY brings Tracked back. I'm astonished really.
It's a weird "Culture of Fear" type office that I currently work.
All the usual traits - coming in 45 minutes early for free, rushing around, skipping breaks, staying out till 5pm etc.
Nobody dares challenge the status quo for fear of ostracisation, or looking weak because "so and so can do it, why can't you" sort of vibes.
