If A day is a bank holiday, then you get it off, and if it's your day off on that day you 'get it back'.
If A day is classed as a 'NON SERVICE DAY' then you get it off but if it's your day off on that day you WON'T get it back.
I'm near enough sure that is correct.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Seems very unfair on colleagues whos day off that week is on Saturday that they would possibly lose out financially or lose out on a extra days leave especially at a time when we're constantly being told about fairness and everyone being treated the same
I will never understand in situations like this why is everyone not just allocated the 2 saturdays as there day off that week. Some people get 2 extra days off over reserves who will inevitabley be given the sat off .

Its a lot easier to not give someone something than to take something away from someone.

Well there's two options here then. 1: Work your full normal day's duty and hours for your normal day's pay. 2: Have a day off at home, away from work, spent with your family and do exactly as you like, also for your normal day's pay.
Anyone know what's right here, since end of November we've been put on a saving/lapsing round, with rotating days off, this weekend is our long one, but now apparently we are to be in on the Monday??
I get people who have their own round and still getting whatever day off there's is going to be, but what about a walk that's usually done as savings throughout the year?

Guessing you're a reserve, so if I've understood you statement right and you're referring to Monday 20th
it looks to me like they're doing the dirty on you and making you work Mon - Fri and guess what - actual
Christmas Day (the 25th) is probably your day off for the week - what a surprise! Have they said what your day off is?
That's exactly it
Saturday as the day off
But there are also other reserves, who have been on a walk all year, not officially signed for it or anything and getting their usual rotating day off ..

Sadly, if you are a reserve they can (and usually will) mess you about like this.
Reserve here. Fully expecting to be told my rest day is 'Saturday' next week (and the week after no doubt).
I'll simply at the gaffer and wish him a Happy Christmas, safe in the knowledge that he may have shafted me for 2 days, but when I refuse to do him any favours for the whole of next year, I've shafted him for 363 days. I'd recommend any other reserves who get shafted do the same.
DON'T GET MAD, GET EVEN!
