Re: Day off in Christmas week
Isn’t the 27th a Bank Holiday rather than a non service day?

Re: Day off in Christmas week
Is the Sunday Boxing Day classed as a non service day too and if so will it mean those who are contracted to work Sundays will miss out also?Martin Walsh wrote: ↑03 Dec 2021, 20:21Less than 15 years ago , Royal Mail expected all staff to work the hours they would normally work on the non service day on their other days of attendance for that week.
The reason being is the non service day is not the same as a Bank Holiday and therefore individuals contracted to a 37 hour working week will work less hours that week. The same applies for part timers who would be expected to normally work the Saturday.
The CWU negotiated an end to claw back of hours when a non service day was requested.
However we could not convince Royal Mail to pay Bank Holiday credits for a non service day especially as anyone who gets the non service day off will probably being working less hours that week. And yes I know it is Christmas Day and New Years Day but they are non service days and not Bank Holidays.

If A day is a bank holiday, then you get it off, and if it's your day off on that day you 'get it back'.
If A day is classed as a 'NON SERVICE DAY' then you get it off but if it's your day off on that day you WON'T get it back.
I'm near enough sure that is correct.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Day off in Christmas week : Edited with dates
A bit of confusion in our office, do we get Monday, the 3rd of January off in lieu of New Year’s Day?
