RMCtv : Update on CWU talks - changes to proposals on certain allowances

Same at our office. They have mentioned losing three duties,that’s as far as it has got…

What about clocking in & out? Pretty strict at our office about that. Manager pulled us up to talk about people taking the long route back to the office to kill time. Said it's all tracked on pda's.

Stay still for longer than 3 minutes it comes up on the system, cause that's how long they say it takes us to deliver a packet. Becoming more & more Orwellian like 1984. So some things might be just talk but the clock in system & pda monitoring is happening.

So we can’t even talk to customers now……unless they walk along side us!!

How does anybody find time to talk to customers for more than 3 minutes and still complete their round in time?

They’ve collapsed 13 walks in our office. Loops from them to be done on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. No idea who’s doing them on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

It was meant to be 27 walks…

10% then. It's about the same in my office, and others I've heard about.

Looks like the word has gone out from RM: 10% cuts across the board.

No idea who is going to deliver all the mail and parcels though coz 10% extra aint possible.

They'll be told to deliver all the Tracked and just deliver mail on alternative days to some of their customers, just tough luck for a customer if they don't get a deliver on their birthday etc, not sure what OFCOM are doing about the planned USO failures.

They’re making the job horrible. There’s a problem with retention anyway because it is a hard job for some, but all this spying and micromanaging us makes it a horrible job.

Little tip to kill time, just take the packets out of your bag & deliver with the van. It adds up lol. Also your allowed a piss break, so thats another 10 min's.

Absolutely none. According to the COMs, they were told “pick 11 deliveries, don’t care which ones, that’s the ones that will go”. They are being forced through based on cost, not efficiency. Our deliveries are supposed to be roughly 4 hours each, most can usually only be completed on light days, but with an extra 60 minutes added, every day, the whole office will fail.

Thats what they want ,agency will come in and mop it all up,massive savings right there ,depletion of workforce through the backdoor,within the next 5 years 50% agency with not a VR in sight,anyone leaving will not be replaced.

oh yes and we already have agency covering 4 walks and mopping up in our office.

Devil is in the detail - what are RM wanting in return for this?

My understanding is that they have traded it for ill health retirement as the cost for that was similar to the pot for the allowances so this is certainly not anything the CWU have "won". It's moving the same money around within the deal.

I wonder if they've been looking at the overall national actuals data for the whole country. Could it be that they've added up the total hours early across the country, and then divided that between the number of DOs?

That's because all the new starts since November have been on monthly pay at £11.59 per hour with no delivery supplement, no rris , less holidays, crap sick pay get ect. This is the new reality, there is a two tier work place now in RM. The union have been f****d over well and truely, I'm sad to say. Dave is WAY out his depth. I think it Terry was still there it would be a different outcome. For the first time I think yous have lost and lost big and that's very sad. I hope 100% I'm wrong.

Well if a good deal can’t be made now with ST clearly on the ropes then I doubt a good deal can be made.
Will be an interesting few weeks I feel…..
