The iLSMs/IMPs which can read it with the barcodes upside down will just sort it to the relevant stacker and won't normally print a new barcode on them

That appears to be a closely guarded secret

Letters are declining.
What does this even mean?

What is the definition of a letter?

I assume when people say 'letters are down' - it's the mech they are talking about....

The letters I have each day are plenty to keep me going for my working hours and more...

Junk mail's surely been going up. I deliver tonnes of it. Some households seem to have 3 to 10 pieces of junk mail a day. Some people absolutely love junk mail....

Magazines are also highly likely up.

Sim Cards come as letters.

I can understand if bank statements are down as that went digital years ago. Still, TV license harassment letters, bills, NHS, Council letters are common.

If you exclude bulk postings, even manual letters are down, only needs a couple of staff for most of the night

Which office has no frames?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Frameless sorting being trialled and have been told all frames to be gone by february.
The office I know of have ALREADY had all their frames removed (wouldn't surprise me if the removed frames have been scrapped already)

From monday parcels will arrive walk sorted to our frames.
Nope, parcels don't get walk sorted in MCs, it's physically impossible and would take up way too much space on the lorries. The sorting of the parcels to walks will continue to happen in the DOs

What happens when the mail turns up not sequenced, as it does now occasionally, you'll be well and truly stuck without a frae to sort it.
The national workplan is for wave 2 to be walk sort only. Wave 1 will only end up being walk sorted if there's a major machine breakdown or there's more work than machine capacity and staffing levels allow
We have walk sorted packets, just started today. :wave

Some of the problems can be eliminated by the nominated person at a DO making sure that all the entries in Route Planner are always fully up to date, which would mean a greater % of the mail would arrive in the DOs sequenced.
Do you have any idea how difficult that would be to achieve? Especially in an area that contains either industrial estates or significant new builds.

Very difficult indeed is the answer, especially as some poor chump would have to be released to actually do it. But then the other staff need to be released in rotation to give them information on change. Sure, once it's more or less (say 95-99% correct), keeping on top of it for most walks will be relatively low in terms of time taken. But businesses move in and out of units on a regular basis - sometimes just moving to a different part of the same estate. Often business names and addresses are entered incorrectly in the database and the necessary changes have to wait up to several days for 'approval' - and necessary changes are quite often denied by the AMU because they don't match there information (which is usually that which was incorrectly given in the first place . . .).

My Office ,Winton is one of the units and the frames have not been removed(yet) ,we were notified on Weds last week that the "trials" would be taking place from today , HQ is fully up to date with developments and are in communication with the business . The bench merging element is goinging exactly the same as the trials did 3 odd years ago, The person who is normally first out the office took an hour longer today and thats with no D2D prep and no large parcels. There is no news on when the removal of individual duty part would go live. At the moment the trial is over 1 postcode .

Route Planner was bang up to date on the duty I used to do, but most days the mech was a disaster. At least three days a week we'd get half of the next walk's mail in the back of each tray - so Duty 1 got a load for Duty 2, Duty 2 was missing the start of theirs but got some of Duty 3's, Duty 3 was missing the start of theirs but got some of Duty 4's etc etc etc And once a fortnight the trays would either be wrongly labelled or wouldn't have a label at all.

But, everyone knows that Mail Centres are always right and every mistake is the fault of either the Delivery Office or the casuals.
