As we wasted a ballot on this I would have thought the CWU might have let us know that it was no longer an option. Also wouldn't that make the Pay strike in October null and void? Asking for a friend

I think you are reading too much in to it.
They won't negotiate solely on a no strings deal then move on to the changes.
So we could still get a no strings award but the same time it would be with some changes.

We all said this at the beginning. So why did we waste precious union funds on a ballot that we knew was unachievable. Big guns across the CWU convinced 97% of us that we were worth an inflation keeping no strings pay rise! I'd just be interested to know at what point someone said you know we will have to accept some changes to get a no where near inflation pay cut. Funny because that's not what I voted for

As far as a no-strings pay deal, tbat's not outrageous either. This isn't two years ago, when inflation was at 2%. Everybody else gets a cost of living incrrease. Royal Mail whines about how they can't meet payroll.

I'll spin it for you.

There will be one pay and change agreement but as long as the pay element isn't directly reliant on targets within the change element then technically it's still a "no strings" pay deal albeit within a reward for change agreement that you don't get unless you accept the changes.

See how easy it is.

When you negotiate you start high.

No strings inflation based pay rise was our opening and you negotiate from there

Weve seen RM's counter opening offer on the other end of the spectrum and that was executive action....resulting in industrial action
