My manager today said when asked, there is zero chance of the strikes not going ahead, the conference calls even today are all about gearing up to deal with tomorrow.

Manager said the initial rumour was an email from CWU saying he’d call them off then about midday said they were in talks so who knows who to believe … just to clarify

I think we'd know by now if he'd called the talks off, the union would've let us know almost immediately

My gaffer was at a pre-arranged meeting this morning regarding the allocation plans for the weekend, assuming that the strikes will be going ahead.

He's one of the 'decent' ones. If there were plans afoot, he'd have pinged me by now.

Based on the CWUs twitter post from yesterday it's most likely just going to be a meeting about what exactly Thompson is planning to do with the company.... so far it's been like getting blood out of a stone and the union having to go Inspector Clouseau on Royal Mail.

Is Thompson actually going to spit it out or go into the meeting gagged up.

Not a chance the strikes this week will be called off.
It would be suicidal for the CWU to do so without an agreement and solely based on trust.
Read between the lines it is already as good as called off v

Royal Mail Group CEO Simon Thompson has responded to CWU General Secretary Dave Ward’s letter offering talks. A meeting will now take place tomorrow. Dave Ward and Andy Furey will attend on behalf of the CWU.

We will of course update you on all developments but reps and members should continue preparations for strike action on Friday and Saturday

No offence pal, but you’re a moron. Every post you ever make is completely full of shite so I fully expect this one to follow suit.

I think what we can summarise from this thread is that managers know f**k all and some of you guys need to think a bit longer before you post.

My manager said.. I can't f***ing remember because I wasn't listening to him.
