Not a chance the strikes this week will be called off.
It would be suicidal for the CWU to do so without an agreement and solely based on trust.

No way should any of us be fuc*ed around by calling off strikes the day before. Like we all have to sit around watching social media like fkin muppets and waiting to be called in on a whim. ...honestly they can fk off if that happens.

I'm resigned to losing the money in solidarity, but I've arranged to actually do something for a few days and that's what I'm doing.

Too right.
I've made some huge sacrifices in the past few months to build up a small strike fund and I'm totally willing to lose even more £ going forward. Easily into 4 figures before it's done.

Everyone needs to stop thinking of this on longevity and rational terms for the sake of the business. People keep telling themselves that management will see sense etc etc. They don't give a flying f**k about a longevity plan. They want to drive the business into the ground sell gls make a fast few quid and f**k off. Please please stop talking about this scum as people to negogiate with . They aren't bothered. Think about it.. your a low life millionaire I've been given control of a business with a pension deficit (ill have that). Same business owns a 3.5 billion arm in Europe ( hey hey look at this millionaire freinds). We can take this f**k off the founding arm of bullshit we have to deliver and go to the next company we can asset strip. That's the reality. Anyone of us could be a greedy c*** and propose the same. It's Easy. Doesn't take intelligence just a total lack of morals. 115000 plus people rely on this piece of bolocks to support our families and keep a roof over our heads. The millionaires in charge want our lives destroyed for an easy few quid. It's a sustainable business and 77 million man Thompson for some almost perverse reasons want to ruin our lives. I never want to meet this man because my freedom will cease to exist. A job at Royal mail will be the least of my worries

It's all a question of whose resolve breaks first now. If the strikes are called off after tomorrows meeting with anything less than a firm realistic offer on the table ( which we all know is not going to happen ) we may as well throw in the towel. Even if there is some progress, but not enough, we still need to strike to show that we are not going to be bought off cheaply.

It's the f***ing easiest job in the world. We have a business swamped by crap other courier's can't be arsed to deliver "so we'll dump it on royal mail"( d2d and letters). But before I came here there is part of the business that makes lots of money and all the workforce accept utter bollocks to keep their roof over their head. I know let's flog that bit but wait a minute, I as ceo award us all 300,0"00 shares each. So what we'll do is flog that. Shares will jump as that financial year royal mail will rival amazon in terms of profits. We can then sell up and f**k off. It's fuck77ing amazing. I can't believe I've been landed this after the billions I wasted during track and trace. Maybe I'm special or something. At least my mum loves me

A suspension of IA this week wouldn’t be a failure or missed opportunity like many think imo.

We already have the plan for the next round. It takes us into our busy time of year which is the Ace we hold.

At this stage I don’t believe ACAS can be used as a stalling tactic provided we go into talks with set terms.

So given the whole point of yesterdays announcement was to get the company round the table and making concessions, we appear to have gotten the first part already.
I don’t want to see people throwing in the towel and complaining if we suspend Friday and Saturday in order to negotiate. It would completely defeat the purpose.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water if it happens.
We need to hold our nerve and keep our heads.

No we forgave the cancelling of the last planned 2 day strike due to the death of the queen it was incredibly fustrating but reluctanly accepted.

Then we waited 21 days to get the next IA on which was sold on the premise of "just do the 2 day strike" then there will be no more strikes for several weeks" noticeboard punt.

Now if on the eve of the second planned 2 day strike it is also called off at the last minute........ then all members should turn in their Card's to their CWU site office as it will be clear to all that we are just being used.

People will have made plans cancelling childcare etc just like last time.

We need to actually go through with a 2 day strike.

Absolutely not. Ive just seen you post it a lot and want to know where you found it out as it seems like even for someone who goes from payoff to payoff like Thompson, as an unrealistic figure for him to have made

Did you make it up? If so I'd rather we stuck to the facts, of which there many, to beat him with.
