You do what you have to do.
It'll be tough but it's best to step back and get a sense of perspective.
Many families have to live like that every single week in this country because their employers get away with screwing them over.
Get a 0% credit card so you don’t end up paying lots of interest. There are things you can do to ease the pain- I’d rather those struggling did this than cross the picket line. Don’t let these fcuk wits win.

All branches should also have a hardship fund for genuine cases of need.
It is a limited fund though so it should only be used if all other alternatives have been exhausted.

I don't know why branch/locally someone couldn't be responsible for a hardship fund.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 16:17All branches should also have a hardship fund for genuine cases of need.

Everyone who can donates £5/£10 quid whatever they can then the branch could hear from people who hard up and distribute as they see fit.

Re: Rumours at our office of week long strikes
There are no plans for week long strikes. In any strike it is important to ensure that we keep the support of 115 thousand members.
The PE will decide tomorrow the program of strikes , but we will not be looking at a week of strike action which will result in a whole weeks wages lost. We don’t need to as clearly strike action is working hence what Royal Mail announced last week.

Other unions and organisations also donate to the hardship fund.

RM want tp play hardball then so must we...they want to screw us over then we do the same to them
I would go rolling strike over 2 weeks over Christmas (no idea if 2 weeks would be legally allowed)
Remember RM are saying that you and your family mean f**k all...so f**k them too

Re: Rumours at our office of week long strikes
I think we need to step it up to 3 or 4 days straight all functions around black Friday.
Then if it comes to it an entire week all functions starting 19th of December with the 2 bank holidays we wouldn't be back until 28th of December....
I have been a postie for 28 years and have loved it but people need to realise that if we haven't won this by Xmas it's game over!
I am always a glass half full sort of person and I won't jump ship prior to all this crap actually coming in but it's the 1st time I have started to think where will I go I have an idea it pays slightly less an hour but if I do 40 hours a week it's the same as what we earn now.
I've always thought I would see out my working days at Royal Mail and I can't believe people aren't willing to give up a few weeks pay to try and save a job that lots of us still enjoy although very physical as we all get older.
It's worth the loss and the fight for me because I was thinking 13 years and that's me done or about 325k in earnings at today's pay rate so 1 or 2 weeks pay is nothing in comparison to not be pushed out of a job you thought was for life come on...
To say oh we will still have job is mad no finish time, flexible hours and Sunday working which for many of us is the only day we get off with our families is not something that appeals to me it's like modern day slavery and the job will be your life

The Union also need to realise that if they don't go for the nuclear option and they try to spin it as the deal of the century when 95% of it gets signed off they won't have any members left to pay their pretty decent wages

Well said. I’m down to strike as much as if needed for Simon and co to get the message.mark.cup wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 19:12I think we need to step it up to 3 or 4 days straight all functions around black Friday.

They are clearly getting desperate too, their behaviour is just becoming more erratic.

Would some people rather be on minimum wage with no allowances whatsoever and all breaks unpaid?

I really like the idea of logging off all the beat up vans. Can’t we do that just to get us warmed up. Union sends out a message as a reminder of what we shouldn’t be driving.

I saw a 13 plate Vivaro today, rear nearside bumper held together with 5 black cable ties, passenger side rear panel and side door accident damage, passenger side body moulding missing, front bumper passenger side with half a roll of black gaffer tape over it. Colour edging towards pink instead of red.
A TOTAL AND UTTER DISGRACE, Trotters Reliant van was in better condition.

Well that’s the thing, I think we need to refusing all vans that we are legally allowed to, not just ones that we legally must do..priority102 wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 21:43I saw a 13 plate Vivaro today, rear nearside bumper held together with 5 black cable ties, passenger side rear panel and side door accident damage, passenger side body moulding missing, front bumper passenger side with half a roll of black gaffer tape over it. For example ones that just look bad but are arguably safe. They bring the business into disrepute, and this is a duty we have as employees to mitigate that, is it not..?
RM are doing everything awkward they can provided it’s legal so why not us?

I know you're speaking in the context of the rumours about this current dispute, but I think that's true at large. When was the last time a prolonged walkout was even considered anything less than a militant fantasy? Not in any recent decades. Most of the workforce is yet to comprehend we've skipped over the second-to-last stand. This is really it.
The machine stops.
