...if yer that pissed off with it dont go in its not that hard there's no comeback after all except a lost wage
The union provided a safety net for those people that needed it.
Not going to work because you think you are above the decision-making process is the moral equivalent of parking in a disabled space when you don't have a disability.

Exactly.
Do people honestly think RM aren’t going to use this as a gauge of how people are responding to losing pay due to striking? They’ll be looking at those attendance figures, after basically saying we could all have the day off, and be pissing themselves knowing people are that shortsighted and weak. These disputes/strikes are now gonna get dragged out by RM and judging by this, fade away because we’re too scared of losing a few quid here and there .

To be fair to the CWU though I’m pretty sure they would have been wanting most to take the day off but couldn’t say it
Maybe they should not have said anything then.

We were essentially told we could unofficially strike anyway. People ran back. That’s it
That's complete and utter garbage.
Apart from the fact that the union would completely disavow that position due to the fact that it's unlawful a strike is meant to be a statement, it is the removal of labour in order to further an industrial dispute, it is a means to an end.

By not bothering to turn up for work on Friday what statement did you make and how did it further our cause?

All you did was take a day's unpaid leave.
Well done but it doesn't make you a working class hero.

Yep, I do agree with you. I personally think they were too hasty in calling it off completely but I also imagine they were looking at/hoping for a “best of both worlds” situation where hardly anyone went in off their own backs given the opportunity. I think they overestimated this workforces strength and commitment to the cause. It actually saddens me to see how quickly people come to heel no matter how badly this company treat us. Obviously it isn’t just this one day, it’s the running about, coming in early, not taking breaks etc etc
Even last week I worked with a guy who took out lapsing instead of a break while I took mine then spent all morning in the van moaning about how crap the jobs become. You couldn’t make it up.
I’m rambling now but it’s all linked and I’m worried. It’s crumbling around us and we aren’t standing strong enough.

I mourned the death of my Queen. Like we all should have done, Some of you banging on that we drive round with the crown on our vans. Well the person that crown belonged to had just past away. Yet you run back to work to save a few quid. Shame on you.

Who mentioned the Queen?
The reason I went to work on Friday had f**k all to do with the Queen.
I went to work on Friday because it's what I tend to do when I'm scheduled to work that day.

Re the union. That’s exactly what I said. They couldn’t say it as it wouldn’t be legal.
You should probably read things thoroughly before claiming it’s rubbish.

Quite obviously I don’t think me personally taking the day would have contributed in itself but there’s 115000 of us if you hadn’t noticed?
If we’d have all done it what message do you think that would have sent ? That’s right, we aren’t happy and we’re willing to sacrifice some pay now for the benefit of the future. You said it yourself, whilst again not thinking, it’s the removal of labour as a means to an end. We were given the opportunity by RM themselves.

I was told to come into work by my rep it is not his fault nor mine we have been on strike all these days it is not the fault of interpretation of the message but the massage itself and those who came up with the message!

Thats another thing that pisses my off. Reps doing managers job. Get rid of the ass licking rep first chance you get. Too many reps nowadays feather their own nests.

That we are taking unofficial industrial action sanctioned (according to you) by the CWU?
RM would have been in the courts before you could say IPS.
You are either an idiot or a troll. (Or both)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Some turned up, saw what was expected of them for the day and then went back home again, sacrificing a day's pay with no comeback. :chuckle

Read the post again. It was RM who gave the green light to be off. Where do I say CWU implied we take the day off?
Yep,, but I’m the idiot.

Tell me you’re a complete moron without telling me
