Both! One of our posties left a package round the back of a house on a fairly nice day - the customer came into the callers and said his neighour had found it in his garden two doors down - although it had been nice there was a helluva wind got up and because it was lightish it was blown about. Lucky he got it at all.Pete wrote:For us or the customers?

Well shall I just say that the complaint form was mislaid and that was that. I did mention to him about the incident and told him if one of the managers said anything to him that he'd been spoken to by the other manager - they wouldn't check with one another.Pete wrote:What happened to the postman? Warning?
Don't even know why I do it some times... Just lightens the load and saves a trip to the depot

I have never heard of any of posties in our office getting in trouble, if packets get nicked out side the customer will just presume its lost in the post and your hardly going to admit that you left it on the door step if that even comes back to haunt you. I only leave parcels on the door step if the custom says so.

parcel left outside
A friend of mine returned home to find a six man tent that he had ordered from a catalogue had been left outside his house by the courier company and that they had left him a card, he contacted the catalogue said there was a card but no tent he acted very annoyed and they sent him another one out which he returned without paying for stating that it had not arrived in time for his trip away and kept the first one for free.

I doorstep all the time. Light bulbs excetra. Upstairs window was open other day and I managed to throw packet through it. If it looks like an expensive item I always leave it with neighbour. Nobody ever complains aslong as its not of great value. You can normally tell if it is as the sticker on it normally tells you.
If I doorstep I normally put it at the back door or behind a plant or sumthing. I'll also write a little note on a letter. Had no complaints.

Lets just for arguments sake say that the packet you threw through the upstairs window landed on a gas heater and then set fire to the house - wold that have been clever?LUV THE SMELL OF LETTERS wrote:I doorstep all the time. Why not just follow the correct procedure and leave a card? In that way you will never get a complaint.
