I’m supporting the four days of strike but if there are any more single days I think I’ll be going in as I can’t afford to loose any more money and have the overtime wallers make it seem like there hasn’t even been a strike.
I’d much rather you join the docket fiends than the strike breakers..

Striking isn’t only about trying to cause a backlog. It’s about having big commercial customers pressure RM to “sort it out” so that they don’t have to tell their customers that they can’t guarantee delivery next day / in two days because they use RM instead of DPD / Evri etc.

Why do people find that so hard to understand?

That’s just it, they don’t understand the bigger picture-or choose to ignore it. It’s imperative that we all stand together, RM will have to renegotiate eventually, it’s a case of being patient. Strike breakers WILL NOT help the cause. If you are struggling financially do some o/t FFS 🤦‍♀️
No overtime allowed during strike periods unless you did it before the strikes from what ive been told.
Yes there is,I’ve done some.
Seems its going office by office as usual! hopefully the new owners set the rules out and its the same nationwide!

SMS was saying there is a load of docket fiends hoovering up the backlog after strike days. So unless there’s a load of strike breakers there then they must be allowing it at his office. I was saying if you’re struggling then better to do the OT than break the strike.

Maybe just in your office.
Of course most of your guys went to work so there wouldn't be any excess overtime would there?

Very true, Its just the excess from the mail centre working its way down to us. Those that did overtime before the strike are allowed to continue as normal, but anyone who didnt do overtime before strike and then went on on strike arent being allowed to make back pay.

correct our office will clear on ot today, people starting early , working days off even their saturdays ffs
RM will be keen to keep strike going as its saving them a fortune in full time wages
if overtime continues there are a few of us reconsidering our positions re strike action
WHATS THE POINT of losing money for our colleagues to scrounge up lost hours
this needs looked at asap
overtime and goodwill actions should have been the first things to act on
we are selling ourselves off simon doesnt need to do anthing other than let us implode

Not made up my mind yet if you are Simon Thomson or Lizz Truss, you certainly are not one of us.

-People working their days off.
-People doing excess.

What's the point in those guys even striking in the first place.

Are those guys also standing on the picket line?

'I'm against what Royal Mail are doing! I am here on the picket line with my banner!'.....a day later they clear their round with 2 hours of excess.

That’s not what we’re doing, we are covering sickness and absence and only that. It’s a definite no no to clear the mess up after the strikes.
The more we strike the more edgy RM customers will become, they’ll take their business elsewhere. Keep the faith and be patient.

If they get what they want with annualised hours and commitment to deliver it won’t even be a discussion in any future dispute if people should work overtime to clear the backlog. You will just be instructed to sort and deliver everything that arrives that day no matter what the volume of work and how long it takes.

I wouldn't worry too much about all these people suddenly doing O/T, i'll wager they have already begun to cry off now that the backlog has hit and they realise they are going to have to graft very hard, especially if they are working in an MC.
People like this are always looking for an "easy" earn, the minute they see 650 yorks of unprocessed mail racked up for them, they'll be off with some "emergency" excuse like a rat up a drainpipe. :chuckle
