Van retentions?
Neighbouring office van retentions ended due to industrial action, no safe parking on site. Is this nationwide?

“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: Van retentions?
Ended several weeks ago at my office, supposedly because it was costing RM to much in fuel

Re: Van retentions?
I doubt the postie will need to charge the van... It is not like the van charge will be almost zero when he or she decides to take it home - that will not be sensible, right? Presumably, the postie does need t live very far from work
Each office do what they need to do...
* Van retention also stopped at my office but not sure whether it applied to the strike breakers... Not my problem!

What I understand from when I cross paths with lads from neighbouring office, strikebreakers can take vans home even if they didn't before under van retention agreement. Notice was given day before first strike and until further notice, unless of course you cross picket line.

Re: Van retentions?
Just had a quick look on Google. Seems like home chargers draw between 30-50 amps. The main supplier fuse in a typical home, iirc will be rated at 60, 80 or 100 amps so for many homes EVs can't be charged as you'd blow the main supplier fuse, either that or you'd have to turn off just about everything else whilst the car is chargingpieoftheday wrote: ↑04 Sep 2022, 10:24With the type of charger RM are using charging at home wont be possible

Re: Van retentions?
Pretty sure there must be a way round this one otherwise anybody with a similar van wouldn't be able to charge them at home? Although the simple solution seems to be to make sure the van is charged at the DO before taking it home.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Sep 2022, 10:51Just had a quick look on Google. Re: Van retentions?
I believe that you can EV chargers that can sense the overall load on a consumer unit and will throttle their own demand to ensure that the main fuse doesn't blow, though it might mean charging the EV takes much longerTopperGas wrote: ↑04 Sep 2022, 12:55Pretty sure there must be a way round this one otherwise anybody with a similar van wouldn't be able to charge them at home?
