Working your annual leave
Can someone take a week's annual leave and then work the whole week on overtime, effectively getting paid double?

Yes. Why do you ask?
Strikes aside, there is so much shortage in some offices that managers are imploring folks to come in during their annual leave. Although, some manager can be difficult about it but usually it is a case of; if your face fits or they know they cannot mess with you.

No.
It is not allowed. (The Way Forward agreement)
Ask the justsayit forum and name your office and see if it stops.

Re: Working your annual leave
Sorry, am I missing the logic of this? Unless they've cancelled the leave how are they getting paid double?
Yes they're getting two lots of pay in the same week but they're losing a weeks leave (which you get paid for), they've
lost that time off, it's gone.
And because some if not most of that OT will undoubtedly not be @ SSPR (whereas their normal leave pay would be), they're
getting ripped off delivery supplement and pension contribution wise. The managers must be laughing their
proverbials off!!

Re: Working your annual leave
working whilst on annual leave is definitely a no-no and you must take 5 continuous days rest, if you want to work it then cancel your leave and let someone who wants time off take it

Re: Working your annual leave
i get why some do it for extra money, some don't even think about needing a break but it boils my pi55 when some can't book holidays for a week when someone working it whilst on leave, especially during school holidays
this needs addressing

Yes, I kmow what you mean, as a relative newbie, 18 months service, I carried over holiday from last year, seems as though I'm going to have to do it again, wife works at school, she's just had 5 and a half weeks away, I can't get same time off as her.
The amount of grief I get from her is huge!

Re: Working your annual leave
The managers let you work those annual leave weeks, but PSP still shows you as having taken your annual leave. This gets rid of the annual leave in the plan. The manager can still do this with the employee having a large amount of overtime paid into that week which is an absolute joke.

Re: Working your annual leave
A lot of offices don't care what the rules are, the managers do what they want. Managers hate cancelling leave because it kicks the can down the road and the problems come later. In my office on a weekly basis staff work their annual leave days on overtime and have done for years.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑29 Aug 2022, 06:05No .You can cancel leave and take at another time and then work. You can however work rotation days leave
