In Processing,
Part timer’s are more likely to dodge a pay abatement for strike days being as they wouldn’t be at work on all 5 weekdays or have weekend days in their 3-4 day PT contracts.

A full timer on the other hand is going to cop every single strike day as a pay abatement.

Depending on how the CWU select the strike days a Part-timer may not be on duty on any of them or just the odd one.

So a PT on a 30hr 4 days contract say sat / sun / mon & tues will not loose any pay for any of the upcoming 4 official strike days which are fri 26th wed 31st aug & thurs 8th fri 9th sept.

Part Time does have it’s perks!
All the part timers in my DO work 5 days a week, so they are as likely to have a rest day on a strike day as a full timer.

It seems p/t as the forgotten members of the work force as RM have not mentioned them once regarding the "changes" and neither have the CWU.
Yes the CWU agreed with RM to stop PTs who don't drive from getting FT (people already working for years in RM before they brought this in)
which should only have applied to new starters
I bet loads of PTs left the union after that - shot themselves in the foot :thumbdown
Since when has that been the rule?
This happened years ago
Have you not noticed any duty that comes up it says must be driver
Any FTer that leaves the duty gets put down to PT anyway
We've lost several Full time staff over the past couple of years due to retirement etc and initially no part time staff was given full time contract. Eventually it became clear that we needed more contracted full time staff and several part time staff got the jobs. A few of them didn't, and still don't drive. So, RM and CWU have never colluded to stop non driving part time staff getting a full time job.
Disgrace I’ve been told a number of times I can’t put in for a FT duty because I don’t drive and it’s been agreed by RM and the CWU
thought this was the case in every office :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Full time contracts get handed out on a seniority basis. Clearly, you can't apply for a job that requires driving if you don't drive. But if there was a FT position vacant and you are most senior PT staff, you would have first refusal, unless it is a ringfenced or specialist duty.

Our union rep told a PTer that it goes on seniority, drivers first. He said a driver with 3 years would take precedent over a walker with 20, so "as soon as you're FT they can ditch you any route they need you on like you've started from the bottom again."

FT non drivers have left and they put their duties down to PT drivers - is that fair??

Stop quoting the whole bloody conversation please.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
