An idea for a new deal/compromise.
Instead of annualised hours, we start a little later in the summer months than winter months, finish times remain the same and the SWW hours are used to offset the lower summer hours.
Instead of their sick pay idea, we have a sick pay premium that is capped. Like car insurance, it annually goes up if you are off a lot and down if you aren’t but the premiums are always affordable and have a ceiling.
Instead of the current Sunday plans, RM apply to adapt the USO for Saturdays to include Sundays for mail over both them days, then have each of us working 1 full weekend in 3, delivering parcels and mail over both days which uses a 1/3 workforce over both days.
A 5% pay rise followed by a further 3% after implementation.

RM argue there isnt enough mail to sustain a 6 day USO so they arent going to try and get it changed to 7!!
More likely 5 days coming soon

Shorter Working Week is dead in the water, they want new starters on 40 hours so they won't care about any agreement to reduce hours.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

No ideas for a compromise. This is meant to be a pay RISE ffs! Fed up of people spouting s**t about 'give and take'. We've given our hard work in the past 2 years, aswell as a cost of living crisis, now lets get something for it!

Re: An idea for a new deal/compromise.
I feel they want to at least force in the list of changes they have plucked from thin air, with at best a couple more % pay rise.
A fair pay deal will take forever to agree to as the Union rightly want us to have a 10%+ pay rise, no strings attached.....we are not even close to getting this as there's been no compromise offer......
We are heading for strike after strike after strike until either Royal Mail give in or they go down the P&O route. The P&O route will surely be reckless from them when we have 100,000+ staff to replace. P&O only have 2000 staff.
I'd suggest to Simon to get to the table and come up with an initial compromise. If not, then the CWU should call for a week long strike. Let's see how Simon likes the idea of a massive backlog of post and parcels piling up and customers directing their parcels through other couriers to avoid this calamity which he has caused.

Re: An idea for a new deal/compromise.
I actually feel our position is quite strong this time around.
In previous strikes we haven't had the sheer volume of packets and parcels that we have coming through the system now. Pay managers and agency whatever they want they will never keep up with the constant stream of tracks and small packets.
Also we have so much competition. This is dangerous for the the employer to drag this out too long. After a few weeks they whole system would be bursting at the seems and important letters will be backed up for weeks as they will be focusing on pumping out all the parcels and premium products even on none strike days.
Our hand is strong. We must remember that. They have allot to lose and ultimately the company has been doing really well.
Important to remember that.

Re: An idea for a new deal/compromise.
Starting later in summer for some would just mean staying out later to finish. Today I won't be done before 3.
They want you working 40+ hours but you'll be lucky to see an actual contract over 30.

Re: An idea for a new deal/compromise.
Surely Royal Mail will struggle to find sufficient casual manpower this time around? Given how other firms have been increasing their hourly rate?
