I think their problem with this plan will be that they need a motivated group of management on the ground at local level to try and pull it off. From conversations with managers they just don’t have that, they lost that dressing room as well even though they won some concessions recently.

They also just got rid of a load of managers to. I doubt many managers will give a damn.

Apparently this cunning plan was not as cunning as first thought..

No sooner was the cunning plan announced to weaken the strike that its all in full reverse.

All mails will now be delivered to Delivery Offices in Scotland on Friday. A tiny workforce will attempt to deliver premium products. Expect rocketing customer complaints.
On return to work on Saturday mail will be in the Unit for delivery. This may be subject to change if the wind shifts direction.

Could the CMA have asked their members to only 'manage' on strike days rather than send them out on Specials and Tracked? I can't help feel that the board will happily do anything to avoid getting back round the table and showing weakness

I think what he is trying to say is that on Saturday everyone should just work their "Contracted" Hours and finish at their "Contracted" time. It's a common mistake to call this "Work to rule" which as you say could be construed as Unofficial IA!

We all know that if often only takes an extra hour or so to deliver two days mail (as opposed to one) but RM have said they won't be paying any extra OT to clear the backlog, only usual ammounts of OT for that day. I would suggest it's in no-ones interest for any of us to bust a gut trying to clear the backlog. Of course you're going to get all the usual idiots giving all the usual excuses for doing it. I won't be one of them. I'll be finishing at my "Contacted" time.

Looks like the agency staff at our office, have been instructed by their agency, that they do not need to cross a picket line, and thus will not be working on the days the posties are out on strike! Gonna be some busy gaffers on the strike days!

Clarification for working on assignments during periods of industrial action

As you may be aware, it is anticipated that there may be industrial action at Royal Mail Group on the following dates:

• Friday 26th August
• Wednesday 31st August
• Thursday 8th September
• Friday 9th September

I wanted to take the opportunity to clarify ManpowerGroup’s position for our employees on assignment.
You may have seen in the media that the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003 have been amended. From 21 July 2022 the effect of this statutory amendment is that employment agencies and business can lawfully supply skilled staff to replace striking workers. Previously this was unlawful.

ManpowerGroup always works in the best interests of our employees and clients. We have considered this matter very carefully including, amongst other things, disruption to public services, our commercial obligations and, importantly, the safety and wellbeing of our employees.

To ensure absolute clarity ManpowerGroup will not:

• Provide staff to replace a client employee who is supporting official industrial action
• Provide staff to replace an employee covering the work of a striking colleague.
• Force, coerce or induce any ManpowerGroup employee to cross an official picket line.

I was getting all excited when I heard about that, thought our CEO might need a new plan. Oh well, he still has one flaw in his plan, the managers are on our side. Hard to believe but they are not happy.
