I would be more than pleased to live under a 2 party system but at the moment IMHO we live under a form of 1 Party state run for the benefit of businesses and the rich. At present we as Posties pay more in taxes as a proportion of our wages than AL and AC do. How can it be fair that they prop up a failing business with our taxes, but when we ask for pay rises or decent pensions they cant afford it. Its cost them 55 Billion to bail out Northern rock, it would cost them between 4 Billion and 9 Billion to keep all final salary pensions and if done right, ie no caps and no pension holidays, this initial outlay could be paid back eventually.

2 Political Parties maybe but they both have the same ethos and same general aims, the only difference is usually in the fine print.

Spot on just take a look at what the labour party were going to do in their manifesto. before they got in.

Childhood poverty spiralling;record numbers of homeless children;4 million extra slipping into fuel poverty in the last month alone;NHS treatment rationed by postcode;wards closed and operations cancelled as trusts fall into debt;death rates increasing from treatable conditions as drugs are rationed to boost drug company profits;patients suffering malnutrition while in hospital,and on and on dragging us back to the Dark Ages. and on, American imported workfare,takes the biscuit this one,you can even privatise unemployment so US companies can make a fat profit from public funds directly as a result of people losing their jobs.

What TBT says is correct, there is no choice now, they both look towards keeping the fat cats in business happy, over 20 years goverment took £5.2 billion off RM, considering they have just given £55 Billion to Northern Rock, with no guarantee of a return, why couldnt they have given RM the £5.2 billion back and at least have given RM a fighting chance of competing and also securing our pensions, but the bottom line is this, would we be talking about 55,000 job losses and a further 50,000, if this goverment hadnt opened up the UK mail markets before other E.U countrys are having to and allowed greedy businessmen to cream off the best bits, just think if we had continued to be a public service and the mail markets hadnt been opened, then 90% of our profits could have been used to subsidise POs and postbuses and other community services and create an even better true public service for the benefit of everybody especially the elderly who rely on our service more than anyone...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
