The CWU agree to all RM demands with VR for all those that want it.
Now this is something I would vote for.
I hope your joking, as with 15 years service my redundancy package would be worth f**k all, good for all the old timers who had the glory years, and have been finishing 2 hours early for the last 20 years.
Well for 1 with 15 years service and if seniority was the criteria I would assume you wouldnt get near volunteering for redundancy and 2 if the senior staff took it in your office you could sign for one the duties that finish 2 hours early that you seem to have in your office. Just wish we had them in my office I would be tempted to stay put if the opportunity arose.

Probably not popular but here goes;

full timers/ 30 hr people 8am-3/4pm letters/packets
25 and under 3pm-8pm oversized parcels ( gives Simon his 10+ hour of van use)
1 in 6 walks dropped
( except for rurals which will stay largely the same)

1 Sunday every 7 weeks ( 7 a year)

flexy time dropped

siso in all offices- overtime linked to it.

2 instances of sickness in 12 mths allowed, no sick pay except ssp after that.

6% rise over 3 years.
6% over 3 years? With these proposals I'm off

Would them freed up duties actually remain as they are or get massive changes? My Gut feeling is that the COM would make changes to them, probably putting 2hrs worth of work onto them

6 hour duties made up of 4hrs letters and small packets then 2hrs large would be tough going, but doable for some.
6 hour duties for non driving staff with letters and small packets is impossible

If the COM isn't a coward they would've done it already.

The 'we are a parcel company that also does letters' line however aggrevating is hard to argue with in this current climate of traffic decline. How we manage people who can't/won't drive will be the next battle ground. Electric trikes are not the answer
I know this is quiet season… but parcels have dropped off massively on the walks I’ve been taking out (I’m a spare, in an affluent area so getting a reasonable picture).

Letters have also declined, but I would imagine without them, my daily round would be loss making.

SDs have dropped off a lot as well, think it's more than the usual summer time drop off so possibly people are already cutting back on their spending

Is it that or the fact that some of our customers have already decided to use other couriers in response to our strike?

The missus was telling me all about Evri and how its so much better than Royal Mail. They give you a text message within the hour to let you know when they are going to be delivering. Compare that to Royal Mail who are more interested in lapsing duties so often the mail and parcels arrive whenever its convenient for the postie.

Thats the biggest problem with having hybrid duties. Posties are more inclined to deliver where they are going, especially on rural duties where it simply makes no sense to be delivering post and then driving 10 miles back up the road to deliver parcels. I can't stress enough how it makes more sense to just have parcel drivers who deliver the parcels and utilise the letters for the morning staff doing the walks. I know many posties may complain about longer walks, well if thats the case, theres a duty there delivering the parcels instead. The company shouldn't just be imposing on all staff that they should be finishing at 5pm.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Sadly, I think Royal Mail seem to be heading that way. Our quality of service has been suffering on a daily basis due to not adequately covering duties. And then we go and recruit a load of agency workers without giving them proper training.

And the way new starters are treated is terrible the ethics of the job have disappeared so from day one a new starter is getting the picture its not that important to do things correctly just faster.

Just had an email from moonpig.
It gives the strike dates and tells me to post early if sending cards.
But flowers and gifts will not be affected.
So either they're using a different courier for those, or still using tracked and RM have persuaded them that their army of casuals will clear them on time.
Good luck with that.
