Wow you have the same overthinking imagination that I do, I've been pondering on something very similar for the last week or so, tactics to get us out of the way so they can test their vision of the future using an alternative workforce on shitter terms and conditions.LaggyBand wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 07:08Thanks very much for the invite Mr Yellowbelly!yellowbelly wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 21:44RM are spending on all the agency so want to use them and pay as few RM staff as possible to recoup
as much as they can. That's my superficial thoughts, but perhaps there's a more deeper reason as well? Let's have your
Friday night conspiracy theories (no let's not!).
Well this was all planned all along:
1. Lay on thick what they really want (annualised hours, later starts, Sundays etc) and push the union into calling a strike;
2. Use the strike days to beta test the new parcel model and close the parts of the business they don’t really want;
3. Save all the money going to the staff they don’t really want and throw it at the staff they do really want (jeans and t shirt guys);
4. Show that on these days the business actually did really well, to the point where union starts to think RM actually like these days;
5. Let the union keep calling strikes to starve the staff they don’t want;
6. Plan B if the old staff don’t just accept what RM want (highly unlikely to accept) then offer to the old staff that we won’t touch you but we want to bring new staff in on these new terms and you need your pay so why not go with it else we carry on with this parcels via jeans and t shirt model on strike days.
Additionally (I’m no expert here) but couldn’t the ‘new model’ that’s being used on strike days be used to show how this part of the business is ‘really good’ if the business was broken up and they want an example to point to how they can make lots of money through this new parcel model.
Oh and Klaus Schwab was probably involved too.

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
I've been back delivering LATs this week after a break from them and I'm surprised how good RON now works, it seems we've been used to as testers to iron out most of the issues, so it can now be used by the agency workers to delivery parcels etc when we're on strike, it even now flags up change of addresses! Surely if the Board wanted to try and avoid a strike they would have watered down some of the T&C's changes or given us an increased pay rise? If they don't they seem content for the strike to take place.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 13:49Wow you have the same overthinking imagination that I do, I've been pondering on something very similar for the last week or so, tactics to get us out of the way so they can test their vision of the future using an alternative workforce on shitter terms and conditions.LaggyBand wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 07:08Thanks very much for the invite Mr Yellowbelly!yellowbelly wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 21:44RM are spending on all the agency so want to use them and pay as few RM staff as possible to recoup

I wonder if the Board are thinking of using the GLS model for the premium products and then informing the Government that they can take back control of the USO mail and along with the staff who deliver it?

They seem to be at least one step above us if all the talk is true. Maybe we should call their bluff and all show up for work on the first strike date.

I think they want to provoke that we are anti agency workers but if they pay them it is just another worker as we are not on strike now little strikes can happen just tow the line.

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
If it is the intention to move to jeans and t shirt model and we don’t need you old lot on strike days then what has really scuppered us is the change in law allowing agency staff to cover strike work. Totally pacifies the whole mechanism of striking. Who did that? It was never the case a few years ago.

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
They won’t cover hardly any of the work. Ignore the noise it’s to demoralise you. The managers who I have spoken to said they would be amazed if even all of the specials get delivered.LaggyBand wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 19:17If it is the intention to move to jeans and t shirt model and we don’t need you old lot on strike days then what has really scuppered us is the change in law allowing agency staff to cover strike work. Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
I voted for a strike. The law change has made striking in MCs a moot point as they can still get everything done using casuals. They'd probably have the managers doing the SDs and send all the mech as manual. We're probably virtually at 50% of staff on shift being casuals/agency as it isLaggyBand wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 19:17If it is the intention to move to jeans and t shirt model and we don’t need you old lot on strike days then what has really scuppered us is the change in law allowing agency staff to cover strike work. Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
I looked into who changed the law, it’s an Etonian dude called Kwasi Kwarteng.
Turns out this guy (obviously not alone) changed the law regarding agency workers covering strike work very recently.
Until then, it was against the law for a business to bring in agency workers for the purpose of covering strike work.
It was ok if the agency workers were already there, alongside the normal staff, but you couldn’t just swamp your business with agency workers for strike work.
Well now, it is ok.
Now this guy, Kwasi, he’s also bringing in a big drone network. Seriously.
Watch from 56mins on U.K. Column here:

No need to bother me with what you think of U.K. Column, just concentrate on whether or not what Debi says about drones is false.
So yeah, this guy is throwing agency staff at our strike and then if we survive that he coming at you with drones in a few years’ time.
You vill own nahzing and be happy

Re: Only parcel hubs to open strike days
Has anyone given a licence to these Drone's this can only be accomplished by licencing ie anything over 15 lbs or 6.8kg with payload needs a pilot's licence to fly it and that costs money.
